    Default Initial ideas

Ok, I'll get the ball rolling......

Is there any point in having an LED on the tip of the device? It's a bit gimmicky to try to replicate the glowing effect of a cigarette, isn't it?

The LED does have a purpose though - to let the user know that the battery is charged, and to let them know when it has run out.

But since it is on the tip, the user can't see what it is doing unless looking in a mirror!

My first suggestions would therefore be:
    1. Put a smaller LED on the side of the battery so it can be seen clearly by the user, and get rid of the one on the front.

    2. Give the user more feedback through the LED. Have it flash periodically when the battery is, say, four-fifths discharged[/*:m:16bk101y]

In the initial models like the E-sigar and E-pipe, the led was only a gimmick to simulate a smoking cigar tip. On the E-sigarillo the 'led' is just a piece of glass and doesn't light up at all. In the later models they added features like automatic 'cleaning', indication the battery is discharged, etc. using that led on the tip of the battery.

For me that led has no use at all. You can sense-taste when the battery is dying. So after an initial try with the mini, I switched to the E-sigarillo that has no headlight on it.

I was talking to one of my customers today and he mentioned the same issues about the LED on the end of the battery..

Although you can see the LED light up on them (at least the e-cigs in popular circulation today) I like the idea of having a color other than the orange that is the default on so many.. Im looking forward to checking out the newer model batteries with blue and green LED's
