He said no, but they only made a few of these and a clone is all a person could get now a days, and he said it wasn't the same.

Then I asked him How he knew my Russian was a stolen design?
He just looked at me, I was waiting for "I seen it on the internet"
so I said I would like to see proof that they were stolen.

Copyright laws and Trademarks are pretty set in stone. If they were stolen there would be a record of it somewhere.
And I am not talking about some Joe bs website show me a real article in a newspaper or a lawsuit or something.

I asked him How he did not know if,
    Did they buy the copyrights?
    Copyrights ran out?
Did they ever have a copyright?

And is it theft if one company owns stock in the other company?

And where does one's protest against clones start and stop?

The First car in the US was FORD right?
So everyone else here stole his idea? So unless you drive a Ford you have a Clone right?
    Look around your house,
Look at your computer, TV, DVD, Cloths, Furniture, and pretty much everything in your house came from someones elses idea.

I told him before he gets back up on his high horse,
he better go home a take a good look around and see how many cloned or knockoffs he has.

Now I am not sure if I won that argument but damn I felt good when I walked out
Too much to catch up on I try, I fail
Youze guyz iz drankin - I'm already there and still on this whole is buying a clone ok thought.
As I vape p-thingy with a clone top.

    Here's my perspective.
I don't really LIKE the fact that there's an issue with "cloned" products in this industry - but there is, and there's nothing we, or vendors, can really do to stop chinese companies from making copies of a popular product.

And just to clarify - even IF a product is patented (it's a patent you'd want for a device, or a trademark for a "brand name") - some Chinese companies simply do not honor U.S. patent, copyright and trademark law. There's not much a small vendor can do about that, except for what Hana did - that's a trademark (misuse of a protected brand name) and they went after vendors selling devices that had a fake logo on it - they could not do anything about the chinese manufacturing copies.

So - clones DO come out. What's a vendor to do?

Typically, an innovator has a window of opportunity to become successful before the cloners take notice. They sell a lot, they establish a reputation, and a fair number of people buy the original product while it's unique. And many will still pay more for the original after clones come out.

To KEEP making money from an innovation, a vendor can
    a) stay ahead of the competitors through continued development. Have a V2, before the copies. Etc.
    b) remain clearly superior. People WILL pay a bit more if they hear that the copies aren't of the same quality.
    c) provide other un-matched service. Better options, better service, better accessories, better response - something on top of the hardware that's worth paying a bit more for.

I do not think it's going to be viable to charge double for a product if the copies are the same or nearly-the-same quality.
I'm not saying that's "fine" - but it's reality. It's a challenge for the developer/manufacturers, but some are rising to that challenge and maintaining brand loyalty better than others (and yes, ProVape is a good example).

I did, but that bunny suit you're wearing is creepy...not exactly what I expected to come home to. BTW, vacation was fantabulous. Perfect weather, great food. I can't wait to do it again!
