So sorry to hear of this. My thoughts and prayers reach out to her and her family.

I had noticed she hadn't been on the forum for a while and wondered what was up.

The last time I got one of those hypothetical question opportunities was:

Her: "Who do you have on your freebie list?"

Me: "You don't want to play this game."

Her: "Yeah I do come on it's fun. Mine is: Chaning Tatum, Mathew McConaughey, Tom Hardy and that kid that played Jacob in Twilight."

Me: "That chick the works at Dairy Queen, our waitress the other night from B-Dubbs, you're friend Lisa and-"

    Her: "- I don't want to play this game!..AND YOU'RE AN A-HOLE"

    Me: "Too close to home?"

She stormed off very angry. Apparently I don't play right. I guess they're supposed to be unattainable.

While on the topic of mothers...

It was an erie coincidence that the week I purchased my first e-cig (a disposable NJoy) was the week my mother found out she had cancer. Within a few days, we found out that the cancer was too far gone and was untreatable. Two days later she passed without any suffering or pain. She was a religious person and had already been prepared spiritually for when that day would come.

She was 84, still active in the community. She drove herself wherever she needed to go. She volunteered at the Thrift Shop twice a week (mainly to catch up with the town gossip). She still played the piano at the little country church every Sunday. Seemingly in good health for her age.

We lived in a small rural community in Ohio. My father had already passed on a few years before. All her friends her age had passed on. She was the "community matriach", as the preacher called her. She was well-respected and liked by all.

I was pretty close to her as well. I considered her a close friend and confidant, as well as being my mother. I took her death pretty hard. Her sudden and unexpected death made me realize my own mortality. I had older teenage children who I wanted to watch grow into adulthood. I can remember driving them to school one morning, hacking up half of a lung from my smoking, and them asking with genuine concern, "Dad are you alright?" Me: "Ya, its these darn cigarettes." Them: "Dad, when are you going to quit?"

Long story short, I don't believe my mother's death nor my finding e-cigarettes to be merely a timely coincidence. This was a Life Changing Event which shook my soul and gave me the determination to finally quit smoking after multiple failed attempts with the gum, patches, lozenges, Welbutrin, and hypnosis (twice).

    E-cigarettes saved my life!

I am glad they did, Bad. It has been a pleasure to make your acquaintance. I am sure your mother must have been an exceptional woman.

Baditude, I am so glad your mother didn't suffer. I am also happy that you made the switch to vaping. I am sure your mother would be happy for the lifestyle change and proud of you for making it, and the effort you put forth to help others. My own mother passed on Oct 27 of 2013, about 6 months after being diagnosed with lung cancer, it is very hard to watch someone you love die.
