any news on the possibility of a carrying pouch of some sort or a case even for the prodigy or, more precisely, the Protege? that would be awesome!

NP Vap- I'm actually really excited about the Protege... So much so that i ordered a PT with most of the adapters. I actually got started on a M401 (well eHealth, but the 401 was my first good unit), and have many atomizers for it. I already have a charger for 18650s and 16340s so I'm off to deal extreme for some 14500s.

If your looking for a case/holster for the protege, then I'd direct my search towards an AA sized flashlight case/holster. I'm thinking that maybe a mini-maglight holster *might* work out pretty well. It keeps the light pretty snug, and is open at the top for easy access. Other wise a single plastic cigar holder would do well for travel, but may prove cumbersome for EDC (every day carry).

Funny thing is you are going to get hooked on 5V, and then you won't want anything less...

Well I have a PD on the way, and get this... I ordered the original switch config (3.7)... to use with my M401 atties... pretty ironic eh? Oh well se la vie. I also have a TI 5V LDO, so I'll wire it up somehow for 5V until the additional switches are available.
In addition to this i've also made a 901->M401 adapter, but ran into the same problem as Steve... the center channel needs to be open in order for the atomizer to function (this is the only airflow channel into the atomizer.).
