Default Accidentally quitting smoking with the e-cig

It would seem that I have accidentally quit smoking.

I didn't buy my DSE901b for that reason. I bought it so I could get my nicotine hit in places where I couldn't smoke (particularly the train I'll be going up to Scotland on for Christmas. 6 1/2 hours without a cigarette was a painful thought.).

However I appear to have quit smoking with this too. A couple of days ago I was on the analogues all day and I felt really horrible in the evening. My chest was heavy and I just felt weighed down and my mouth tasted awful.

I threw away the cigarettes I had left, and I've only had a couple of minor pangs for it since. My e-cigs (especially the flavours I've got with my Kissbox) just taste so much better.

Anyone else had a similar experience?

Yes BadSeed, I thought it was just going to be a nifty gadget, I really didn't expect to quit. After a few days of using my ecig I realised the potential and was amazed at how easy it was to swap, I had no intention of going through any hardship. It's a little miracle.

I didn't realise how much it sounded like a sales pitch!

I've also noticed myself getting a bit sickly sweet on occasion recently ... I'd better watch out, hey. If all else fails I'll blame my lolcat addiction ... too many kewt kittehs.

A lolcat addiction is nothing to be ashamed about Kate.

Same thing happened to me! I had zero intention of quitting when I got my first e-cig. Like Kate, I just thought it was an interesting gadget. The first day of use I smoked 5 real cigs instead of 30. Continued like that until I got some stronger nic juice. Haven't had a real cig now for 2 weeks. Not trying to quit at all! Just preference change. All the potential benefits are just icing on the cake. People who know me are in shock.

Yikes, same here Lurker--in fact, my original plan (before I got the device) was to "cut 4-5 cigarettes out of my 30 a day habit."

If someone had said "You're going to quit real smoking completely within 1 week of getting that thing" there is NO WAY I would've believed it.

(In fact, I was reading this board before I plunked down the money to buy one, saw the various people here claiming to have quit smoking & I thought "that will NEVER be me, never!"

Same here. Started esmoking so I could smoke at the poker tables. That was 7 months ago. Had two analogs inbetween, tasted like crap! It's a wonderful thing.

You can add me to the batch of those who never thought they'd quit with the e-cig. For me it was just a hope that I could cut down a bit, "smoke" inside while working and use it before meetings and such so that I wouldn't stink to others. I actually fully expected I would get it...find it laughable and send it back for a refund. I NEVER expected that I would actually stop smoking with it. I have been smoking for over 15 years and was at a pack a day. I've tried gum, patches, Zyban...everything except the Chantix (and I have a prescription for that which I never filled because that stuff scares me). I have never been able to stop for more than a day or two with any of those NRT's and each one of those days was a constant struggle when I did try to stop. It has been just over 3 weeks now since I got my e-cig and in the meantime I've tried about 4 or 5 times to smoke a regular cig and each time couldn't stand it. After a puff or two I had to put it out. As Kate said, this thing is just a little miracle!
