Default What is missing?

For those of us that cannot manage to quit completely, maybe we need to figure out what is missing in vapor that we so crave from our smokes. I don't think it is just the nicotine. I have vaped enough nicotine to make me slightly sick and still want an analog.

Maybe one of the people on here that are vastly more educated in such things than I am could help me out. For instance, I know cigs contain mild anti-depressants. Could one sort of replace those by sipping an herbal tea...like a calming one? Is there something else that makes it so vary difficult for me to cut out those last 1-5 analogs I still smoke after more than 2 months of vaping? I have cut way back...from 1.5 - 2 packs per day, but I still cave and smoke those few every day. I don't like them, but I smoke them and then I reach for the PV because I do like that! Any help, anyone?

Hi Frankie
are you vaping at 3.7v or 5v or 6v?

I quit analogs altogether at 3.7 with a little 510 but If Id known about 5 or 6volt then, I would have had a much easier time doing so.

5 and 6v are much more like a hit from a cig than 3.7.

I don't know what mg of juice you're using but I got of cigs using 24 and 36mg.

Threw my cigs out and everytime I had a desire for one I'd just start vaping away until the urge left.

Will power also plays a part in it, I think.

But definatley a good mod at something higer than 3.7 does it for me..

Good luck on quitting cigs.

Thanks Doots. I have a Prodigy and PS PT and Protege! LOL I am hoping it is just a matter of figuring it all out, working out the numbers etc. It doesn't help that hubs still smokes analogs and isn't really giving it a fair shot on the PV. It also doesn't help that I have started having heart palpitations, though EKGs don't show any heart problems. I had them before PV's so I KNOW it is not related to vaping. I wouldn't go to doc then because I just figured he would say quit smoking, which I knew darn good and well I couldn't do..Anyway...the palpitations make me just a bit scared of the higher nic and I think that is why I haven't been able to quit completely.

You have the right PV to stop analogs!
Some people have the wimpy little look like cig units that makes it hard to get the feel of a real cig. At least youre most of the way there.. lol

My sister had heart palpatations when she smoked and tightness in the chest all the time. One of the reasons she starting vaping to see if that would go away which it did after she quit smoking cigs.

She is a heavy vaper with high nic juice. She has no problems at all now with palpatations or chest tightness. She also smoked for over 40 years. She's been off analogs for over 3 months now.

You may be in the same boat from using analogs. I don't know.

I know for me and a few others I know, We had to stop analogs or it was going to kill us. Great motivation right?

I know everyones situation is different.

I would just start vaping when the urge hit me for an analog until it went away and it does goes away every time. I was using 36mg juice when i was trying to stop analog use. The day I got my first 510 I never had another analog after that.

I hope you get it figured out!

Thanks Doots. Well at least I am wearing the heart monitor right? LOL If the nic sends my heart through the roof...I can call in and see if I need an ambulance! LOL Thanks for the info on your sister. That is reassuring. I KNOW analogs increase my heart rate so I am thinking that 2-3 drops when I need em of 24 isn't going to be any worse! I have some 36 also. I have been holding the mix to about 4-6 nic..that is probably why I haven't been able to quit entirely. I was trying not to increase my nic habit, but maybe I would be better off quitting analogs first and then worry about reducing the nic intake!

yes, that seems low. that is probably why you cant quit the analogs.

like i said, I had to just stop analogs altogether and count on the ecig to break the habit.

my sis bloodpressure when the doctor took it was way lower after she had been on the ecigs for a month or so. doc made a comment that it was way lower than the last check she had. it wasnt the nic causing high pressure it was all the other things in analogs making that happen.

hope you can kick it. Im sure you can. just keep on trying..

My test results for all things are better...except for the palpitations which are worse. I THINK this is unrelated to smoking or vaping, but only time will tell.

I have found a wonderfully informative thread however, and am posting the link:

MAO Inhibitors

LOL mods, please feel free to delete me! LOL My question is probably answered elsewhere. I hope others who are having a hard time find the same info!

This is for the OP. One thing you have to keep in mind with all this, and to few people on the forum will tell you, is that e-cigs are a lousy nicotine delivery system. You're not getting nearly the amount of nicotine you did when you where smoking 2 packs a day, hence the need to supplement your e-cigs with cigarettes to keep the demons at bay.

Instead of beating yourself up about it you may want to supplement your nicotine with some other reduced harm products. Try some snus or dissolvables. Both will give you a much better nicotine hit then e-cigs and will very likely make it much easier to quit smoking. E-cigs are not your only option.

i still have the odd cigarette.. i dont crave for one but will take one if offered.. when i smoked an excessive amount of the things for real they made me cough.. i never enjoyed the things just simply needed them..

now i can actually enjoy smoking one.. i can take a nice big draw with no signs of a cough.. am i a failure.. from the never touch one again point of view probably..

from a more realistic point of view.. like my cough has gone and i no longer feel i am killing myself with tobacco most certainly not..

one thing i will say.. a real cig apart from being pleasant does little for me.. when i have finished one i simply pick up my e cig and carry one just like i have never had the real one..

i can do this for one simple reason.. i have faith.. faith in the fact that i know a decent e cig does work.. if i didnt have this faith i would not be able to take or leave real ones..

i also never had to build up the hatred of real ones that most people seem to have to do.. i can take them or leave them now.. this suits me..

i aint gonna say its been an easy path.. the real problems is that most e cigs are not up to the job an addict needs them to do.. now i have one that is and know how to use it i am a relatively happy bunny..

a device that works plus some high strength liquid will deliver the goods.. a whole bunch of crap out there wont tho.. the problem isnt the concept its mainly the hardware..

trog

ps.. as regards quiting nicotine i would be a total failure.. but then again this was never my intention..

i am in an unusual situation.. i am surrounded by a bunch of people who both real smoke and e smoke.. the guys who make screwdrivers are real smokers.. they are very unusual.. totally unbiased they e smoke when it suits them and real smoke when it suits them.. they can and do use both.. would they give up ether.. it dosnt seem so.. they like both and use both..

trog

Thank you everyone. I didn't originally intend to quit...just cut way back. I have done that from 40 to about 3-5 per day, but I did that so easily that I thought maybe I could quit entirely and quickly...that is when I began to feel like such a failure. Anyway, in retrospect, I think I will just slow down, not stress and keep plugging away. Maybe one day it will happen for me too! LOL
