    Default Collapsed my first srping

It finally happened to me. I was vaping away and decided to check my batt's voltage. Unscrewed the atomizer from my Grand and replaced it with my volt meter. Hit the button and nothing happened. Hit it again, and still nothing. I thought maybe my batt was not seated so I slid open the door and saw a very slight white wisp of smoke, then I noticed the spring was collapsed and the battery was not making contact. I measured the battery with my multimeter and it checked out at 3.7ish volts.

Now I'm sure the atty is fine cause I had just vaped it with no problem. I'm almost certain it was the volt meter that I screwed in that caused the short, and hence I am afraid to try it on any of my other mods. I have replacement springs, but is there anything else I should do before putting this one back in service? Should I chuck my volt meter? Its one of those generic white plastic jobs that has a 510 connector and a 3 digit display. Think I got it from Madvapes. Been using it for several months now without a problem.

Check the connector end....look for the center pin protruding too far, the center pin tilting or leaning, or a break in the gasket material surrounding it (which may not be visible.) Shorts generally occur as a result of the positive (center post) coming into contact with the negative (outside threaded body). This can also happen when screwing the accessory (volt meter, adapter, atty or carto) down too far, compressing the gasket to the point that a connection between the positive and negative is made.

*edit* and I'm sorry that happened...that blows. Contact Rob if you want to send it in for repair, or you can order a replacement spring. Be sure to check the bottom of the button to make sure it didn't melt.

Sounds to me like a broken gasket in the mod I would need to have the mod in hand to test it .You can test the mod itself with a volt meter but there could still be a broken gasket. Your volt meter could be the culprit to many variables for me to tell over the pc

Sorry to hear this. I collapsed one too.
Kinda reassuring after it happens, knowing that it happens so fast and gentle that you don't even know it.

Indeed. Only after I slid open the door did I have any indication how close I had come to calamity. It was a bit shocking, but I was glad to know that I was using such a thoughtfully designed mod.

Important to check the gaskets...check the one on the volt meter too...looks just like an atty on the connector side. YOu can use the ohm setting and check between the center and threads on the volt meter and see if they indeed shorted together. I have one of those too and at least visually inspect it each time before screwing it down. If that's not it, then as Rob said, it could be on the mod itself (connector socket is shorted. YOu can check it the same way as the attys.

i don't see the necessity to lance an 'illustrated guide to catastrophies' with the Reo so far,

but please help me out with this:

when you guys talk about a 'spring collapse' you actually mean a blowned batterie, caused by a short circuit? the battery - by blowing - is forcing the spring to collapse? is it ?

    sorry, language problems...

A spring collapse is when the spring heats up and collapses. A short in an atty or the REO can cause this to happen. The battery can still function because the spring dropping it away from the firing point. Here is a picture of a collapsed spring:

    Hi guys!

My reo mini shorted too.. after replacing the spring, every time, I'm firing it with atty on it, I see the batts positive side sparkling...
I've tried a bunch of cartos and attys... results are the same...
I think device connector went wrong.. do I have the chance to repair it myself or the only way is sending back to Rob(every time I have money for the repair, and the overseas shipping, I spend my money on some new stuff... : ) ) ?

Sorry for my bad english and sorry for the silly question, I tought it's worth a try : ) !
    Regards!
