Let me make a template this weekend for the door. I was going to experiment on mine.

[QUOTE=BabyCrusher;11893148]You see?! You see when I'm bored what the consequences are?!

I've looked at this for a long time and I can't tell what it is. My brain just doesn't register the image at all. What does it represent, if anything at all? Once I know I'll probably feel real dumb.

I meant to use this one, but we weren't sure how the engraver was going to handle it. Only difference is the thicker lines, which I wish I would have done. Live and learn, not a big deal. Now I know what I can and can't do with it though

More time would have netted better and more detail. I did not take my time doing this. Also, I did not create the original image.

If they're no longer anodized, what does he use? I know I can get an unfinished one, is there a reduction in price for it?

Do you do a live trace for that? Which version of AI do you have?

Illustrator is what I'm making the template in. Corel Draw is what the engraver uses to print. Any . PNG file will essentially work depending on complexity.
It can cut straight through the Reo. Finish is taken off in the process.

If you have illustrator all you do is select outline when the image is opened, and essentially the mind numbing part is done. However, rebuilding the image once a rough outline is ready is also an option but takes significantly longer. It will look super solid tho.

Like I said, I literally spent zero time doing this. In fact doing all the passes on the machine took longer

As a quick note, I don't want people to think I'm offering a service. This is free for me to do and would not be fair to profit on my lack of experience or self investment. If you want to try something and accept the variables of risk associated with apprentice type knowledge, then by all means we can perhaps entertain an experimental conversation.

That's a sick door! I am going to be etching my copper door I made pretty soon here. Unsure of what I want though. But yours looks very nice.

He uses powder coating instead of anodizing, and no...an unfinished one is the same price.
