hi kate, regardless of whether his reviews are for his own products or not, he is a supplier. the rules say that no suppliers are allowed to post in the review section. and who is to say that the products he reviewed but doesnt sell are totally accurate now? for example, in one particular product review he stated in a series of videos on this particular popular e-cig that it had no throat hit what so ever........even though at one point he nearly coughed his bollox off after taking a drag! but then he sells the same model on his site now. to some, it could be percieved as knocking down the competition in order to boost his own. i never had any prior reason to doubt him, but since learning he is now a supplier i cant help but feel that it was just part of a marketing strategy. i may be totally wrong, i may be totally right.......i honestly dont know. ive often thought about selling e-cigs as a side income but the one thing thats stopped me is knowing i would not be able to do reviews any more. and i can almost certainly say that if i suddenly declared myself a supplier, the mods on here would not hesitate to remove my reviews in a flash. you cant have one rule for one, and not the other.

I have issue with this also... BUT... I have to say.. that while I agree with you guys... I think that the RESPONSES to his reviews are what is so valuable and to take the thread down would remove the whole thing. All the people who got one of "those" went to that review and added what they thought after they used it and I think that having all those differing opinions (one says it has TH and another says TH is weak) is what makes the reviews so valuable to newbies. Reading through a thread and getting opinions from others on a product will tell you a lot about it and let you know if one person got a "dud" or the reviewer got an "exceptional" one. Maybe they could remove his reviews for any products he sells... but leave the thread without the video? The videos for what he sells are all on his website anyway. Quote:

Yeah, I see what you're saying Scott. It's my understanding that when Trog became a trader his reviews weren't removed. He never put a review up of the Screwdriver to my knowledge, or if he did it's been taken down or moved. So the precedent is that reviews from before someone becomes a vested interest are not removed from the reviews board. EDIT Hi Spikey, we were posting at the same time. Your suggestion of removing videos and leaving threads might work, Parked didn't do text reviews from what I can remember. |

I think that Trog is a diff story thought.. he is not selling M401's or Janty products or E-cigars. Quote:

I raised this same question about supplier reviews a few days ago... http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/for...ification.html At that time, Parked was still not identified as a supplier, he is now. |

Is Parked only selling Janty products? The limited suppliers I've read about seem to sell only one brand. I got the impression that Parked's operation is more like a retailer (for lack of a better word) than a supplier from one brand. A Walmart more than Brand store. If so, maybe that would require a new label. It would make sense that he would carry the items he's tried and liked. I guess time would tell if he changes his offerings and replaced quality with cost cutting, but I don't see that as the situation right now. I know I still value his reviews. I think as e-cigs gets bigger, the lines that are so black and white in it's infancy, will become gray in many areas, and may no longer fit. For instance, Cash is a moderator with "delete" powers. If we didn't know Steve to be a good honest guy, that would be kind of questionable. Just my opinion but I haven't seen any reason to distrust Parked, and btw, I haven't purchased anything from him. I think many of the members who are passionate and motivated will become involved in some aspect in the future of e-cigs. |

Parked seems to be selling items from multiple sources. He's a Janty retailer, though. I, honestly, think many of the previous Janty reviews were done as a fan, given Janty is in his hometown, it's hard to deny there might be a bit of a connection. I don't believe he was ever working for or with Janty USA. I don't believe the "reviews" that are done with his products should remain in that section, OR they should be tagged as a supplier review with GIANT letters. He shouldn't be allowed to do any more review videos in the review section regarding products that he currently carries. Just my 2 cents. |
