At one point last evening, early, I noticed that there were as many visitors as members (over 200 each). That could be a good thing...more people are hearing about them and want to find out more. Or, it could be a bad thing...someone is trying to cause trouble (I know, a "conspiracy" isn't likely but with ASH, you never know).

Whether it's ASH or friendly fire coming from curious newbies, a DOS attack is simply that. A fast server, running on unlimited bandwidth is still subject to only so many concurrent connections.

Forums are notorious for having thousands of users all issuing keep-alive pings to stay online - all the time. Unlike a web site (where the database is only taxed when a request is made) you can easily have less than a thousand users who effectually never log off.

I hope the server migration does indeed take care of the timeouts, but if not, a core cluster or mirrored server farm may be needed.

I had it happen to me today also.

It is getting tiring to me also.
The forum is useless if you can not access it.
If the migration did not take then a lot of messages were lost, as well as post counts also.

I fInally got fed up with it and went to nu-vapor.com and made up a profile.
It is smaller, so it is a little more personal, so of you have a question it is a lot faster to get personal attention.
