The server is too busy at the moment.

I'm experiencing an increasing number of Server Busy notices preventing access to ECF (a bad thng). There also seems to be a huge growth in ECF membership (a good thing).

My guess is that the two phenomena are related. [No, I don't think that a busy server and limited access is causing increased membership. Rather the other way around.]

What are the powers that be doing about it? What *can* be done about it? Raise $ to pay for increased server capacity? If so, how? [I just became a supporting member so I'm not volunteering to contribute more. ]

Don, I've read a couple of other threads about this and they say a new server is being de-bugged before migration.

server not found is not the problem, so that is what it responds to the ping.perhaps to many pictures have been added lately and it eat a lot of bandwidth, I don't believe the amount of user is the cause or the back up is running very offten, it would be better to be off 2 or 3 hours daily for a backup with a preview notices

I do perodically get server not found errors.

some suggestion which may help get onto ECf fast should you get the server busy message.
1. get something to drink and eat
2. get your 36mg or high dose ready in the event you need it.
3. hit refresh less often
4. wait 5 mins or longer between refresh attempts
5. when you come back to ECF without message take your time posting.

those have worked wonders for me. at least until the new server is up and running. usally by the time i am done 1 -3 i am back up.
