Kookie and All, Well, this is interesting. I've been following a lot going on in NY state, except the last 2 days obviously.

1st a few months ago the Senecas did try to fight the Pact Act....here I thought they gave that up. And in the last few weeks it was the fight with NY Governor and the new tax increase that goes into effect tomorrow.

So this is a surprise they're back fighting the Pact Act again.

Another article with a bit more info: PACT Act stopped temporarily | Indian Country Today | Northeast

Here's hoping they win and carry more snus and snuff. - my 2 cents.

Last time they put up a fight they closed down Hwy I-86 (then route 17) with burning tires. It goes right through tribal territory in Salamanca. Wonder what they might be up to this time.

I support them fully. I think this country owes them that.

I am reluctant to say this but: Last time I was there (Quite a while ago), on the reservation, I told them my story which was I wanted to hijack a cigarette truck and drive it into the river and dress as Native Americans doing it. They looked at me with a blank stare. And I said, well, maybe this time not dresses as Native Americans. And they laughed. Phewww! LOL.

This is the latest news on the banned states... as in Iowa, Mass and SD. This comes from Northerner via snuson

Help for those in banned states.

UPDATE ON IOWA, MASSACHUSSETS and SOUTH DAKOTA:

First let me say this, the process of getting us ready for PACT has shown me one thing; that the gov't wasn't ready to implement this new law. Most of the states that I spoke to didn't even know what PACT was, a few did, and a couple just didn't care, lol. States are set up to have wholesalers, and then retailers. They don't really have a category for webshop that acts as both, so many of these states simply didn't know what to do with us. Some said, "no sweat, just pay the taxes and we're cool", and some said, "hell no, you're not allowed to sell your wares here". Iowa, Mass. and South Dakota were part of that last group, yes...I said were.

Okay, South Dakota is out. We will not be able to sell Swedish snus to anyone in South Dakota via our website. So, if you live in South Dakota and want Swedish snus, please contact me asap and I'll do everything I can to set up a wholesale account with a local retailer so that you can buy from them.

Iowa-they don't really have a law prohibiting us from selling, but they don't know how to deal with us. I have a meeting on Monday with them to iron this one out. After a call from our attorney they seem a bit more "willing" to work it out. I will update this thread accordingly once I know something. So until we get this squared away, we won't be able to sell to Iowa residents, but it won't be too long.

Massachusetts-They flat out said no to us intitially, citing "no brick and mortar, then no selling via the internet". After the attorney spoke to them, we find out that it's not so much that we don't have a brick and mortar, but that they didn't know what to do with us. After speaking with our attorney they are willing to let us sell via the internet, but we have a few more hoops to jump through with them to get licensed. Once we get our distribution license, we will again be selling to Mass. For now, we cannot, but be patient as it shouldn't be too long. Thanks everyone.

Thanks, Stubby. Now that is interesting. Northerner really is trying - good thing they have their Lawyer. It's all twisting and turning isn't it...I know this has to make some people feel better.

And then there is the lawsuits. This is the latest

Seneca group joins PACT Act suit : Southern Tier : The Buffalo News

Looks like the whole Seneca nation is joining in the lawsuit to get the PACT act declared unconstitutional.

Edit: and they won a reprieve

Thanks for posting Stubby!! I never really thought much of anyone declaring the bill/act unconstitutional...but it basicly is! I wonder if said states where Swedish snus is banned could seek some form of legal counceling/representation to help over turn it(guess that would cost a few bucks!).The Seneca nation could sure use some extra help.

You can count on me Axl. If you can't get what you need, I'll get it to you. I will keep my fingers crossed for a judgement in our favor. Damn pact crap anyway.
