Trying very first snus now (and yes, I'm a female) in Other Alternatives to Smoking; I just ordered the getsnus.com sample pack ...4 different flavors. OMG...I never even thought about using pouched tobacco although my ...

No spitting. Correct.
If you don't take to a taste immediately, put the remainder in the refrigerator and try again in a few days. Lots of times snusers like something on a second try. Good luck.

Sometimes -- depending on the strength/flavor/size of the pouch -- when I first put a snus in my mouth, I get a big watery reaction at first. The saliva glands go a bit crazy, that's all... and I do find it's better for my stomach if I spit that out. MOST snus don't do that to me, but a few do. But after the initial mouth-shock dies down, there is no spitting at all. It's just like a wad of gum sitting there.

Oh good...thanks TBob and Cowgal. I've been still smoking the cigs and am hoping that with the snus too maybe I can stay away from them.

With some snus, Cowgal, the mouth gets a shock.
A tart piece of hard candy, or a super-sweet one, might get the same rush of saliva. That's one reason I prefer dry mini pouches. There's less saliva rush and the dry pouch takes the initial moisture.
The only times I've ever felt any urge to spit was when I tried the strong, black, wet snus. Some like them; I've stayed away for the most part.

Experienced snus peeps, I have a question... I happened to notice when I opened my fridge the other night that my husband had a tin of camel spice snus in there.. I was like, oh wow..I've heard of this stuff...He said, nahh I think that stuffs too old... How long is snus good for refridgerated? I'll find out tonight just how long it's been in there
This is not the flav I'd probably pic out but, If I thought it was ok I'd probably order the swedish stuff..but, its here and tempting to try..lol..Thanks

It seems that it varies, partly depending on when it was made, when it was opened (and may have started drying out), on how much of the time it was chilled in the fridge, and in my experience I think also on what type or flavor of snus.
Look on the back of that little tin of Camel, just below the bar code. There is a "best before" date. I think that date assumes it is unopened and chilled. One that I have in front of me right now as I type this was purchased in April and has a "best before" date of "11AUG09" so they don't go bad in the same timeframe as fish or milk or eggs at all. I used the last one from this tin a week or so ago, and it was still okay, but a little dry because it was unsealed and left in the fridge without protection from drying and also often carried around outside in a desert climate for a few weeks.
My experience has been that Camel tends to hold its flavor better but perhaps dry out a little faster than many Swedish snus.
