Default Skoal Smooth Mint (snus)--- it's not bad!

so yesterday I was asking a guy at my local gas station that carries stonewalls why they don't have java or natural, and he said they used to, but they have a contract with a certain vendor about what they can and can't carry, and their vendor only offers wintergreen. I asked if they could carry General, and he said no, but he knew what I was talking about and said I should try Skoal's snus, so I bought some Smooth Mint, and I gotta say, it's not bad at all, at the very least, it's better than marlboro or camel, here's a quick review:

Flavor: the flavor is a little weird. it's not quite as good a General Mini Mint, but it still has that kind of weird taste you get from any american snus, although not to the extent of marlboro or camel. what it kind of tastes like is somebody took some american snus and a little bit of swedish snus and mixed it together. basically it's not bad but it's got nothing on General. 6.5/10 for "pretty decent"

Feel: first off I'd like to say the pouches are HUGE, like if you've ever seen dip pouches they're the size of those. that said, they fit pretty comfortably in your mouth. also, this stuff BURNS at first, probably because it's a mint flavor, but it's got a STRONG burn for an american snus. if you like that, this is for you! 8/10 for "impressive"

Nicotine: I don't know how much nic is in this stuff, but whatever it is, it's a pretty good amount for American. Probably about the same amount of nic in these huge pouches as there is in a regular sized pouch of General. it's weaker than Swedish snus, but it still works. 7/10 for "acceptable"

Over all: If you snus a lot, and want something to tie you over until your order comes in, this is what you gotta get. Here in Missouri it's $2 even, and they give you 15 pouches, but the pouches are REALLY big. it's a decent American snus that WILL do it's job, but it's not quite like Swedish snus. it's really nice that you can get this at most gas stations. I'd say try it at least once. 7/10 for "not bad for American snus"

I didn't know skoal made a snus. Thanks for the review. It's good to know there is another option out there.

From reviews I have read over at snuson skoal was the winner of best american snus. They actually almost got the nicotine right, and an improvement over anything else from the US. I also heard the newer camel is bigger so that might also have a better hit.

Haven't had any US snus for a long time but in a pinch I wouldn't hesitate to get some.

UPDATE: I don't know what the HELL is in this stuff, but whatever it is, it's rough on your gums, I know mint flavors have this tendency, but this.... I haven't used it since yesterday and when I lick my gums I still feel some dead/peeling skin/tissue/whatever the technical term is on top of them, so either

    A. the mint flavor is just REALLY strong

    or

    B. this is closer to dip and has a similar TSNA count

I've been using snus for 3+ years. The first generation of Skoal snus was terrible. Their new versions, Mint and Smooth Mint, IMO, are good although they are large portions and very sweet. Skoal snus is part of my daily rotation.
