If your a nicotine addict, and I certainly am, snus is an awfully good place to be. The legal issues are another side of it. Snus isn't completely in the clear but it's looking much better then e-cigs. It's very likely e-cigs are going to be toast. Outside of a miracle a ban is a given. This includes US suppliers, US manufactures (Johnson Creek and Puresmoker), and yes, even individual shipments from China. I feel a lot better having Swedish Match and R.J. Reynolds on my side over Smoke Everywhere and Njoy. I have no doubt without a good source of reduced harm nicotine I would be right back on cigarettes without a moments hesitation. I have real doubts as to how many e-cig users are going to make it.

Right there are indeed the legal issues. It is likely there won't be an outright ban on e-cigs, just that they will have to go through the approval process. In any case we are looking at a minimum 2 year gap between where we are now, and where we end up (no way to actually predict what the state of e-cigs will be after the approval, could be good, could be bad, who knows). In May the US House passed the PACT act (Snus News & Other Tobacco Products: U.S - PACT legislation passed by House..) which will cut off the US from any outside tobacco products (EXCEPT cigars for some unknown reason). I read somewhere that one of the reasons they are trying to get the e-cig classified as a tobacco product is that they can use the law to also stop the juice importation. This will still leave us with Camel snus and I believe General as I think they actually have a US plant, and in the event that happens a couple other Swedish snus plants may open in the US, naturally it will be more expensive due to taxes, but given the choice between cigarettes and snus, I will take snus any day. Just found this thread. I have an Iolite that I'd like to try Snus in but I don't even know how it's pronounced (Snoose?) or where to get it. But I went to getsnus.com and they are offering a sample tin (is that what it comes in..looked like it) for $1.00 shipping. So I got that and will try it in my Iolite. I wanted the Iolite so if e-cigs get banned, I can still vape in a sense.

Uses butane, heats to 374 deg Fahrenheit, don't think I could take it in carry-on though. Still not completely sure "what" it vaporizes? It's not cheap that's for sure. CoderGuy

I don't know what type of stores carry it, I've never seen it on the shelves, I heard that it needs to be refrigerated, just don't know for sure. But now I can try it. I don't ever want to go back to analogs. Yes, it's expensive, but once you purchase it, no more atomizers, no batteries, etc. So I would think in time it would be well worth the cost. Also, if e-liquids get hard to get, the Snus would work. It's not anything like being off analogs like the e-cigs are, but hey, if these items for the e-cigs get hard to get, the Iolite will be great. Too, DH is getting ready to retire and I've oodles and oodles of stash so I won't have to put out the money, but if times get to where buying atty's and batteries is too much, I've got my Iolite and I can just buy butane and Snus. It's an alternative, not one I want to have to use, but at least, again, it's an alternative.

Interesting. You can get the American Camel snus at most 7-11 stores here and smoke shops. General (a Swedish snus) is available in about 5 of the smoke shops around me but you can go online to their site and do a "where to buy" locator (General ® Snus | The Original Swedish Snus ™ by Swedish Match ©), and of course for the moment you can order online until that too is banned. I believe you only need to refrigerate before opening, once it's open it last a couple weeks in the container (heat is the enemy to quote someone here). I keep it in the fridge when I have extra containers (even open) and just keep my current can with me. I would be curious on how this works, please update us once you try it ![]() CoderGuy

I get far more nicotine from my snus than from e-smoking, Coderguy. And it's so much easier to use snus in public -- NO ONE KNOWS. I'm still combining all the stay-off-cigs stuff, as that seems to work best for me.

Me too!! Use it all day long at work and no one is the wiser. ![]() No more waiting for that 15 minute break to smoke 2 -3 cigs to get my fill for a while.
