So I was in a store today and happened to see the Snus (not the Swedish stuff unfortunately - the Camel stuff, which I am aware is quite different). Being that I was curious after reading a bit about it, I thought I'd try a couple flavors - I actually lucked out and got it for free since apparently they got some as samplers... Anyway, I've tried 3 pouches (2 of the frost, 1 of the mellow). I can't keep the things in my mouth under my tongue for more than 5 minutes... At first they tingle and taste rather good. But suddenly they start to actually burn a bit (not unbearable, but not pleasant), and two out of the three times I got uncontrollable hiccups! Also, the nicotine content must be pretty high as my head starts to sort of spin. All in all I'm not finding it particularly pleasant at all... Think I'll stick to vaping... Am I doing something wrong, or just not for me? |

Waitwait - just saw it says under your upper *LIP* - that explains a lot. =oP I'll try it as the directions actually READ! (Have no idea how I read tongue; probably because that's how I assumed it was used - lol). We'll try this again...hehe

Okay, that works much better. =) Still not really my thing, but I can at least see it now... lol.

Don't give up on snus! :-) There's so many kinds and so many varieties that there has to be one you'd like. It's a great addition to the e-cigs, at least I think they are. :-)

Hehe - thanks for the encouragement. Actually, they're pretty cool now that I'm using them right! Under the tongue instead of the upper lip is horrific though! ROFL. My bad for not reading more carefully! That said, I do think I still prefer e-smoking. |

I find that they complement each other very well. Snus for work and when I don't want to be "toying" with things - just put one in and forget about it. e-cigs for relaxing or socialising. Mind you, just lately, at home I've been vaping whilst having a snus in at the same time - very bad .Just need to take a pinch of nasal snuff at the same time and I'll have the set (and probably a heart attack too).

Same routine for me. Use 'em all. Snus will grow on you and you might find you like the salty, stronger Swedish varieties. Worth a try. Ditto for nasal snuff.

The Camel stuff also will randomly give me horrible hiccups. It's no fun. The Swedish stuff never does though, not quite sure what causes it in the Camel "Snus".

The hiccups were actually kind of hilarious. My mouth was on fire and I was hiccuping at the same time (due to using it wrong) and I was just like "Why the hell do people love this stuff?!?!?" (Extremely spicy foods do the same thing to me even though I love them). As to the Swedish stuff, more than likely I would prefer it - as far as I know, they don't sell it around here so I'd have to order online. I dunno - I'll see - for now, too many e-cig juice flavors to try. ^.^ |

Swallowed nicotine is often cited as a cause of hiccups. It could be that the sweet Camel snus caused more saliva, thus more swallowing. The nicotine in your stomach set off the turmoil. Many report hiccups with pure Swedish snus, as well.
