I might take the youngest to look at some dogs. I'm still on the fence about getting a dog. I'd like something not too big and one that might have a good chance of getting along with the cat. I'm not sure how to tell though.

I woke up about 15 minutes ago and couldn't fall back asleep. This isn't going to make for a very good work day.

Hitt, if you go to the Humane Society they test the dogs and cats to see if they co exist well or not. There are rescues for specific breeds as well, and they will work with you on that also. I am a big proponent of rescue's. Plus the chances are very good the dog will be potty trained already. Although I do understand the allure of a puppy to a little girl.

Axl, I'm sorry to hear about HJ. I hope you get some answers very soon. Has the breeder been any help at all?

    Axl, not again.

Hitt, you're already half way to doggie world. Taking a child to "look" isd waving the white flag. Good luck. My experience with most cats and dogs is they normally learn to co-exist. Sometimes it's better than that. I've had cats that would crawl up inside my dogs legs and purr contently.

lol! Don't be fooled by short haired breeds, they don't actually shed less. Just smaller pieces of hair that are next to impossible to vacuum up!

The doodle mixes like my golden doodle shed very little, that's the good thing. However, the reverse of that is, if you let the hair grow to natural length, it gets very dangled and impossibly to comb out. My solution has been to constantly trimming him. I have a pait of Husky Titaniums I picked up at HD or Lowes that work great.

One of the local petco stores is hosting a pet adoption today so I'm going to take the kids to look only. No decisions get made without my wife there.
