Default heartburn and smokeless

I always get heartburn when i use snus or dip. Anyone get this? no i dont swallow any juice. But it still causes me heart burn, and pretty quickly. Is this just a sign not to use smokeless?

Hasn't been a problem for me, but everyone is different. I would suggest going over to the snuson, com forum and post it under their health forum. Many more experienced people over there then in this little corner of the snus world.

No problem for me. Ever. I've not even seen this reported in any studies of snus.

Sweden should be the Heartburn Center of the Universe if this were common.

No, quite the opposite.
I haven't had even one antacid since I started using snus many months ago (down from a few a week on average).

This is not surprising through since snus are alkaline because of the sodium bicarbonate in them (AKA bicarbonate soda & baking soda - a common remedy for heartburn).

I know nothing of dip so I can't comment about that.

Dip has no saving grace, in my book.

That baking soda in snus also helps prevent staining of the teeth that is prevalent with other forms of tobacco use.

Thumbs down Sheer bad luck?

When I quit snus, my digestion problems stopped completely. There were several types of them before, persistent and unpleasant enough for me to be willing to endure endoscopy attempt (went very wrong, my deeper throat was painful for weeks and no results obtained) to see if I have ulcers or what.

Then I quit and it stopped. Immediately. I lost almost all will to live and definitely all ability to enjoy, but the innards were just fine.

I could never find any relevant source that would claim snus causes any painful/unpleasant effects on the digestive tract. But it seemingly did for me. So I would not be too surprised in your place to find you are the only one having problems with this. Just your bad luck.

So if it really causes heartburn for you and is unpleasant, then it might be appropriate to use other type of nicotine delivery:lozenges, Tom Sawyer rolls, gum, snuff, etc. I would not recommend quitting, though. Heartburn is much better. I am 5 months into this experiment and still waiting to find something pleasant in this .......** life...

Frankie, good to read you again, but sorry your problems continue. The more I research the role of dopamine, and how nicotine kicks up its production, the more I can understand your depressed state (and the more I understand why Chantix is the killer it is).

The processors that handle nicotine uptake in the brain are the very ones that give a person the sense of pleasure. Shut them down and you doom yourself to a life without pleasure. Sex. Food. Entertainment. Nothing provides the pleasure that a simple cigarette once allowed a smoker to experience. So giving up nicotine is not an option for me, or for many who have no desire to live a depressed, deprived life without any sense of joy.

Keep up the search for a nicotine source that your body can tolerate and your brain can cheer.

And I flat out believe the scientists who say smoking hard-wires the brain to demand nicotine now and forever.

This gets a bit more complicated. Depression is a life threatening thing which can kill you right now: And when you trigger it, itīs not just a question of having a nico hit and the depression goes away. I tried with snuff some weeks ago. Caused myself a collosal headache, my pulse went somewhere I would not dare to count, and the depression basically remained intact.

They say "never have another puff" or some other **it. Well I had "Puff" - snuff - and I did not feel any urge to start with nicotine again after that (actually it was sort of 3-day event). I still have the pack. Does not attract me at all. Just lies somewhere. Would have to search to find where exactly I put it.

What I meant to say is that quitting can be dangerous - and those who profit from it never say so to their victims. If a person is a healthy smoker/user, I would say quitting represents unreasonable risk to his/her life. Yup, I can go to the good doctor who tells me it was a good, brave thing to do, and that I was a very sensible person understanding that this move had to be done sooner than later, blah blah blah... And gives me prescription to Diazepam. Now, this is what I call a really beautiful swap: Nicotine for a debilitating, heavily addictive psycho drug which makes you feel like a zombie after a relatively short time. Wow!

I would rather have the heartburn, thank you.

The upper side is that it is getting better. Incredibly slowly, but it does. As soon as I lose my growing addiction to benzodiazepines, which is OK and heatlhy, because it was prescribed by doctor instead of some bad tobacco firm, I will be clean and happy.

------------
Sorry for the tone, sounding angry and off-topic and so on. It is just frustration speaking. I sould probably take it to the quitting forum... If I cared
And I made a mistake. It is Oliver Twist rolls. I got the characters mixed up.
