Default Methonds to quit smoking Using snus

This is for heavy smokers out there who are quitting using snus etc. What was your method? i know snus delivers nicotine slower than cigarettes. Do you leave it in your mouth a long time? What is your daily snus routine, and what snus products have been most successful for you. Do you stick with the reg nicotine, or the extra strong ones? I am really giving it a big effort to use snus to make me quit smoking. I just want to get you guys advice and some working tactics to tackle this problem.

    regards

    Hey paladinx
You know you'll get as many answers as there are users

I'm just a snubie right now, still exploring the different brands and flavors. But there hasn't been anything other than flavor/taste for me to learn! Stick a portion in and leave it until I think about it again.

The Discreet brand tends to get bitter after more than 45mins or so. I'm told that it is possible for the portion to actually rupture if left in for too long. Hasn't happened to me, yet...

Northerner.com has a pretty straightforward rating system for the brands they carry. Strength of the tobacco flavor, mg per portion, additional flavorings and percentage of salt.

My personal preferences are trending to 11mg nic per portion and lower, mild to light tobacco flavor. There is a huge number of snus selections stronger than this that I do not like but a lot of other folks love em'!

I'm using between 4 to 6 portions right now, spaced out over the day. The amount I vape has been easily cut in half, no need for smoke at all.
    (-; Poof :D

I too am using snus, so far, I leave a portion in about 45 min and use 6-7/day. Still using the e cig first thing in the AM and a little at night but snus all day. It does give you nic slower than the e cig and that takes getting used to, that is why I am using the e cig in the AM and PM, a little.
I am using 8mg portions and like General Onyx the best so far, buying at getsnus.com.

When I crave nic, I pop in some snus.

2-3 hours for portions (mini-portions in my case).

I began with minis. I am presently switching to loose, because I eventually plan to grow and make my own snus, such that whatever anti-tobacco silliness the government next concocts, will have no bearing whatsoever on my life. I can keep loose in for an hour or longer now, without a mudslide.

I was an ultralight smoker but am also sensitive to high levels of nicotine. The regular strength portions are a bit much for me. With the loose, I do one click on the 3 ml Icetool, which is a small amount of nicotine indeed.

I started vaping going on 7mos. ago. Quit smoking the first day but still had cravings. About 3mos. in, started with snus to see if it would help with the cravings. I would use snus throughout the day and use the ecig for a quick blast of nic. when I needed it. After ordering several brands from sweeden and finding my favorites, I soon found I didn't want to vape anymore. Still smoke free, and vape free for about two or three months and rarely if ever crave a cig. I now get most of my snus from getsnus, they are U.S. based with fast shipping and great prices. I use about 8 portions a day, sometimes more, sometimes less, but it is so easy. Pop one in and it lasts 11/2 -2 hrs. No batteries, no attys., no liquid, and I use it everwhere all day long and no one knows. Just pure tobacco satisfaction that's been proven relatively safe for about two hundred years. Costs me about a dollar a day. Like the ecig it's not for everyone, but give it a try. I'm lovin it.

Wow I have never heard of supplimenting your vaping with a snus. I too need more nic then what I can always get out of my pv, or its on the fritz. Which sad to say I then grab a can of chew because I cant stand the flavor of analogs anymore. Do the snus not stain your teeth? Also I usually chew wintergreen is the emarald ice similar?

Emerald Ice is more of a spearmint flavor. You might like General Wintergreen or, if you want a LOT of nic, Thunder Wintergreen.

Snus can stain your teeth but it doesn't tear up your mouth the way chew does, and its less likely to stain your teeth as well. No worse than smoking, I'd say. My teeth get colored from doing a LOT of snusing but the color brushes right off.

For reference, I smoked 2+ packs a day of relatively high-nicotine light cigarettes - Pall Mall Light 100s. Sometimes I'd buy Marlboro Light 100s but then I'd go through three or four packs a day...

    I chain-vaped (literally non-stop from the time I woke up till bed) 48mg e-liquid.

My method - snus early, snus often.

I don't use snus as long as most people do. 30 to 45 minutes in, you've gotten all the nic you will, anyway. I typically use a new portion every hour, sometimes more... anywhere from 1/2 to 1 tin (12 to 24 portions) each day.

I use regular 8mg snus most of the time, original portions over white (whites don't seem to deliver enough nic). I also use anywhere from a few to several strong or extra strong portions each day. If I feel like I might want a cigarette, I go straight to the extra strong (Thunder, Oden's, General Ekstra Sterk).

In general, any original (brown) snus and any stark/extra stark works well. White portions are too wimpy, as are all American products (Discreet included) and almost all minis (exceptions for strong minis... e.g., Thunder Frosted Mini).

    HTH!

I was doing 2 packs a day, switched to e-cigs for a while, now on to Snus. Currently using mini portions, which last me between 30 Mins to an hour, depending. In the evening, I use large portions and/or e-cigs.

I'll be trying the stronger minis though, since I sometimes want more of a nic hit than the regular minis give me, yet can't use the larger portions at work, since they show quite prominently on me, and make it harder for me to speak.

When I first quit smoking, I intended to go quit completely, but had an order of snus arriving. I basically stopped smoking, then started to use snus only. It worked wonderfully. I used mostly loose snus, and the occasional packet. I transferred my addiction over to snus, and in turn, became less addicted to nicotine. I ended up enjoying snus quite a bit, and found myself forgetting to use it, but when I did, I savored it.

I would say, you just need to start using it and see what happens. Don't think too much about it.
