Default SCHIP health program - More Information

Looking around this morning I'm starting to find new information on this, which
Nicotinerush has information under "Important Links/Contact your Rep. Here".

The information has "156% cigarette tax increase is coming close to a vote".

I spent an hour or so trying to understand it more and Google searching... and hopefully there's more people that are more informed than me.

What I came away with there is another vote coming soon, but I don't know how soon and this applies to all tobacco, including snuff?

I'm not stating anything as fact, but hopefully someone knows more and can fill me in?

Got me wondering, since after the last Pact Act I thought things had died down a little....yet I did know there was talk about tobacco like snuff/snus being taxed - but a 156% is new!!!!

Several bills with SCHIP in the description. Any idea which one has the tobacco related taxes?

OTD, Here's the link where I found a discussion, which is recent:
Snuffhouse.org - SAY NO to unfair tobacco tax increases!

and it looks like the PACT bill, also. But, I really can't find out anymore other than it might be sort of close for a vote. I wish they had put more detail information in.

Whoa...whoa! Well, this might be a good way to start a rumor!

I see it says 1 day ago, 17 hours ago...but, the dates are Jan. 2009! Whew, I feel better...here I was going shopping.

Sorry, people. But, I go to Nicotinerush and and the notice is still there..hmm. That's got to be old, also. Oh heck, I don't know, doing a refresh on the other website it says
59 minutes ago, etc...so that is updating with current info.???

They did pass a bill last January that raised tobacco taxes. I know because at the time I was using RYO tobacco and taxes went up 2400%. That's not a type-o. Taxes on RYO tobacco went from about $1,00 a pound to about $24,00 a pound.

As far as smokeless tobacco goes the PACT act is the dark cloud that shows up occasionally, though I haven't heard anything on it as of late.

Thanks Stubby, I feel better - thought someone else would hear about it.

I sure remember last January and a couple more times from the state...I think it was 3-4 increases here within 6 months that sent me to vaping...I still get mad thinking about it.....
