Hi Guys, I have an e9, which as I understand it is fairly similar to the vaporello as it also uses a cartomizer. I got a burning taste from one of my cartomizers after about 3-5 cigarettes worth of smoking. I decided to open it up to see what burned and I was not happy with what I found.
The "Cartomizer" consists of a small guage wire coil wrapped up inside of a roll of mystery fabric. The fabric that is directly touching the coil begins to burn during normal use. I've opened other cartomizers that lasted 15 to 20+ cigarettes(with refilling) and only began to give off a slight burning taste, barely noticeable. When I opened it I found that again this material was starting to burn. This is scary.
While I realize that the cartomizer is not designed to be re-filled, even through normal use, this fabric will burn and we will inhale it. Does anyone know what this fabric is made out of? I don't think it is polyester as it rips very easily, if it is then we are breathing highly toxic fumes. Whatever it is, I really don't want to roll it up and smoke it, but this seems to be the indicator that the cart is done.
Im not sure if I'll continue to use "Cartomizers".
Spikey, what have you found. When I last saw you (At Applebee's-vapors meeting) you had just gotten your cartomiser model.

After using the carts for a over a month now....I have taken many used carts apart and every single time it is like you said....the fire retardant material burnt through as well as the cart material. SO I am conflicted I like the product a lot but this burning through cart material is scary.

EDO, I read on a different thread that the "Red Dragon" Cartomizers do not burn, they simply stop producing vapor. I'm thinking of getting some to try. In the meantime, I think everyone should be very cautious about this burning taste and stop using a cartomizer immediately when they sense even the slightest burning taste. This will however, seriously limit the life of the cart. It makes re-filling them less effective because I've found that even if I keep the cart topped off, the material still burns just a little after it would have died without re-filling. Maybe I'm extending the life by 50% at most. Too bad because replacing cartomizers frequently is going to seriously increase the cost of E-Smoking. Also, this .......... xtra high cart (26mg) makes my head feel a little funny and I usually smoke TW 36mg or e-liquidplanet 16mg.

Doug...I was researching the red dragon as well. I don't know how they compare to the KR808d1(DVP9). I heard their batteries don't last long enough and there is little to no throat hit. Let us know if you do try it out. I don't know if there is a better substitute for the DVP9s...but I definitely won't be using these carts as soon as I get any burning taste or smell. I don't think they are going to be my go to ecigs anymore. I am going to try these with Johnsons Creek juice and see if it helps...I been told they run much cooler with JC juice.

Doug... I reread your first post and I thought we were talking about Vaporellos/eastmall DVP9...which is the KR808D-1....which is the same as the VaporKing, Nebula, Zues etc. You posted in the wrong thread. What you have is the E9..which is the same as the Red Dragon, loongtotem V9...etc. The E9 isn't compatible with the DVP9. It can get confusing at times whats what with these ecigs. Anyway don't bother buying a red dragon...since it is what you have anyway.

EDO, I understanfd that the E9 is not the same as the vaporello, however the vaporello, vaporking, bloog, loontotem, dvp9...etc are all cartomizer style e-cigs and I think alot of people are seeing similar things. These are supposed to be the next generation of E-cigs. I think everyone with one of these models should be aware of one thing. The cartridge material begins to "BURN" almost immediately, even though you can't taste it yet. I have sacrificed a few cartomizers now at various points and everytime the material is clearly burnt. Even after only 2-3 cigarettes worth of vaping(smoking). So with these models, you actually are smoking, for real. Your actually smoking the cartridge material, even when you can't taste it yet. This to me seems to be the most dangerous style E-cig I have ever seen. It is similar to taking a paper towel, stuffing it in a pipe, dousing it with E-liquid, and smoking it for real. I hope everyone understands whats going on here and if you don't beleive me, open up a cartomizer after 40 puffs and tell me what you see. BE CAREFUL EVERYONE, THIS COULD BE A SERIOUS HEATH RISK. I don't know what that material is but it smells toxic to me when it burns. I can really only speak for the E9 though, but I dont think anyone can tell me anything that's gonna make me believe that it's OK to inhale the "SMOKE" these things put out. Be careful!

Sorry for posting this in the vaporello thread, I don't have a vaporello and cannot honestly speak for its behaviour relative to burnning, but I do believe all the "Cartomizer" generation of E-cigs(including the vaporello) share this problem. Alot of people seem to be noticing the "Burnt taste" (in all cartomizer models) but I don't think anyone realizes how potentially dangerous this is. I'm also not sure how safe "Burning" E-liquid is either. And yes, I've even tried to keep the material saturated to help prevent the burning and it still burnt fairly quickly.
Does anyone else agree with me???
I'm relatively new to E-cigs, but I'm very technical and I've done ALOT of homework on E-Cigs.
Does anyone think this is SAFE??????

Doug...I have taken apart the DVP9 many times and it is true that the cart material burns...but not as bad the version you have...atleast not as soon. Your safe for about 150-200 hits if you keep the cart filled right. But I agree that this is probably the most dangerous type of ecig. Too bad....I had initially not liked them too much...but now that I have mastered how and when to refill them...these are probably the best ecigs out there bar none. And I have all the major type of ecigs. The only solace I have is that the batteries are 901 compatible. I will use my remaining carts very sparingly and once they are done I won't order anymore.

Hey Doug! Glad to see ya made it on... It took me 3 or 4 refills... but I do find that burning. I also notice that when refilling (I use a syringe after opening the cartomizer) the excess spill off juice is DARK brown (burnt!!!).

I wouldn't think it would be bad to use them.. just to refill them. I am allergic to PG so unless someone starts filling them with VG they are now useless to me
Sad cause these DPV9's have such a great hit!
