I'll vote for a 401. I think the throat hit can be improved/increased with a EVOlution atty from intellicig. You can get them separate in white or black, plus I have seen quite a few pretty high fashion mods done by some ladies with a little fingernail polish if color matching is an issue.

Teraphon did a side by side comparison with an EVO att vs. a generic M401/Pilot atty and confirmed my belief that the EVO yeilds a better throat hit than the standard atty, who knows why.

The durability of my EVO is outstanding. I am still on my first atty after 6 weeks of what could only be described as abuse, 18 hours a day of vaping, I am really impressed with the life on these attomizers. Plus, overall I have dropped this thing more times than I can count. Dropped it the other day in the parking lot and then preceded to grind in to the asphalt while grabbing my book bag - I little external rub down with some hand sanitizer and I was on my way vaping. Plus I think the vapor production is really very good. Yeah, you won't be competing with some 12v super mod that will also serve as a fog machine at a Stones concert but you will certainly be able to blow some very nice smoke rings. Hope that helps.

    Cheers.

The M401 is a nice unit. It doesn't, however, compare to the overall performance of a 510-C.

There have been way better posts than mine on the subject (link to thread:Decomposition of VG to acrolein) but I'm pretty confident that even though the 510 gets pretty hot, i believe its not nearly hot enough for the break down of VG into acrolein (VG needs to get up to 280C for the breakdown to occur). I'm not saying that it WON'T happen, but I guess I'm willing to take that chance over the 4K chemicals in analogs. What meant in my post is that the 510 heats up VG so hot that it leaves a "residue" (not the acrid taste that i assume acrolein would produce) feeling in my mouth after i vape 50% VG, does not occur with PG so that's all i use in the 510.

I will say though that I'm mostly a E-cigar fan, but the 510 really won me over when I got it last week. Couldn't be happier with it.

thanks shimmy, thats good to know. i love my e-cigar too, sadly i think the sensor just went out on my second one, it lasted about 6 weeks. im tinkering with it, slowly hoping to bring it back to life. good thing i have spares.

sounds like a 510 with extra batteries is the way to go. thats been more the direction ive been leaning anyway, but i do like the availability of stock with the 401s. seems like everyone has parts for those, and we all know how important it is to keep our parts stocked lol!

Plenty of suppliers have 510 parts. Below is a supplier list...

Yes. The 510 just goes by different names and Dura-C is one of them.

i'm voting 401 (mine is the newer 4 hole wide bridge type). If you want an e-cig that, for example, you can top off and screw in a charged batt before work, and, not take anything else with you the entire day. I don't have anything that will come close to my 401.

It is also by far, the most reliable that i have in my collection. I'm still on the first atty that came with it 2 weeks later, with no inkling of needing to do anything with it.

Sure, the vapor/throat hit could be better, but as far as the total package for most casual smokers, I really don't think you could beat a 401

Thanks all for your advice and opinions!

Does anything other than the 510 come with a personal charging case? I saw the VX2 from litecigs getting a mention that a case might be a possibility; if that happens I think I'll head that way for sure. It does look like a great model. I think I'm going to hold off for a little while and see what becomes available, though the 401 is still something I'm lusting after. The durability and battery life are big selling points for me.

It's funny how loyal people are to their favorite e-cig models! I'm loving all the reviews in this thread, very fun to read.

OK its my turn to chime in... I had the M401 till I got the 510 Manual and major points that make the 510 a better device...

1st - easy to top carts like a DSE901... the 401 has a lil tiny cart inside the main cart which in order to top off you need a paperclip to push the inner cart up to refill... such a pain in the a$$...

2nd - Manual 510 batts are sealed so overdripping will not destroy the manual battery which is a very very good thing...

3rd - I am still using the same 1st 510 atomizer now for over 2 months and it still produces like a champ... to get the amount of vapor I get from my 510 manual I would have to stick 2 or 3 M401's in my mouth at the same time...

4th - The manual 510 Batts are not sensitive to sound or vibration like the M401 and other PV's with auto switches...

5th - Now that the 510 has an available passthru and with a Kensington Power Pack I can vape all the live long day even on the go...

Like I said I at one time had 3 M401 kits cause I thought they would be great after reading what people thought but in my opinion the M401 is a tempermental delicate over sensitive fragile huge POS and Im glad I have gotten those demon devices from my house for they will never be welcome in my home again... Thank You and Have a Nice Day!!!
