Negative reviews - reconsidered!

Woooooops, seems I've made a big mistake here and pretty much everybody thinks I'm wrong. So I'm wrong!

I'll remove the rule.............


Let me just quickly explain my thinking behind what I did: It has concerned me (and quite a few members) for some time that there was too much activity by the suppliers in the review board. So I removed supplier posting privileges here.

However, it did occur to me that it would be unfair for suppliers to have accusations thrown at them without the right of reply (plus my fear of libel law) - hence the rule.

Perhaps it was too much of a leap, and I pre-empted this sort of problem too far ahead of it actually occuring, so we'll carry on with the old rules, minus suppliers in the forum.

Sorry for any upset this caused, and just to clarify there was absolutely no pressure on me by any suppliers to do this. In fact, many of them have been in touch to say they'd prefer to have negative reviews posted since it helps them make their service better. I just made a big misjudgement.

Personally i think they should be able to do so as long as the thread title is about them , their product or service...my opinion

I'm glad i was wrong about that bit, i was hoping i was, it was just the only explaination i could come up with as to the reason the rule was imposed in the first instance.

I think that most of us appreciate it that you are trying to make the forum better as it grows Smokey Joe. It's not always going to be easy and some of us will get into a tizz on the way, that's just how forums are ... controversy, conspiracy theories, dramarama, flame wars and all the rest.

Evolution is sometimes two steps forward and one step back, in the long term there is overall progress. Short term problems are to be expected in any community.

You've done a great job, don't let the bastards grind you down
