A 250ml can will last 250 hours of constant vaping. You just turn it off when you are not vaping, mine last all day on a fill.

Yes Tim from smokejuice.co.uk, not sure if there is an ETA but I know it is going to be in 30ml bottles and hopefully not too long to wait. Hopefully Tim can update us when he is ready.

Hello, I am curious as to how the Iolite is working for you now after a few days. Do you still like it? I am considering buying one. How does the atomizer work on it? Does it seem like the atomizer would ever have to be replaced?

How much tobacco could be put in the bowl? And how many hits would you get off of that amount before having to refill?

Thanks in advance for your reply!

    Hi Bill

Hopefully a few people will share their thoughts on the iolite, though most here are only interested in using e-liquid with it.

A pinch of tobacco is all that is needed in the iolite for a ten minute vaping session. It is very economical. You can get more intense or lighter hits by increasing or reducing the amount of tobacco in it. I find best is about 10% of that you would use in a hand rolled cigarette. If you are adding VG then you would need to use more as it doesnt release the alkaloids as easily.

There is no atomizer in the Iolite, just the vaporizing bowl which is aluminium and I have never heard of one needing replacement. Theres a two year warranty anyway on the whole unit, no parts are disposable.

There have been two reported issues since release. Firstly the plastic stems sometimes break off. Now Oglesby & Butler have released a metal threaded version. Also old models with the removable pin could easily strip their threads. The pin is now fixed and older models with this problem have been replaced under warranty.

    Hope this helps a little

    Andy

I'd really like someone to do an extensive video How-To and review of the iolite. Is something like that already out there?

I'll be doing videos in the next week or so. They won't be reviews as such as I think whether I like the unit or not is of little use to other people. I will just be showing how it works, the different ways it can be used with different materials and then people can make informed choices as to whether it might work for them or not.

Frog, in your opinion, does the Iolite seem to be well built? Does it seem like it would last a long time?

    Thanks

Yes it's well made in my opinion, Oglesby & Butler manufacture the Portasol brand of gas tools and these have a good name so the company has experience in building devices that last.

The main external construction is plastic which some complain about, here is a quote from the manufacturer when asked about why they selected plastic for the casing

The Outside plastic is not your everyday commonly found plastic.
It is “Ultem 1000” which is FDA and United States Pharmacoepia Class VI compliant. Ultem 1000 is a thermoplastic polyetherimide high heat polymer designed by General Electric. Ultem is also commonly machined into parts for reusable medical devices, electrical/electronic insulators and a variety of structural components requiring high strength and rigidity at elevated temperatures.

The reason we picked this plastic was because it has low thermal conductivity. If we used metal or other far cheaper plastics like glass filled nylon we could not make it so small without burning your hand off.

The internal plastics are made from DuPont Automotive Zenite* liquid crystal polymer, which also has a very low thermal conductivity and is FDA approval for use in repeated food-contact applications. Zenite* liquid crystal polymer is also used in auto ignition fuel handling, ovenware and the aerospace industry and for fuel or gas barrier structures.
