REGARDING TIM'S "GAUZE METHOD" OF VAPING:
I don't remember seeing any 'disks' in my new iolite .. I will look when I get home:

    • what are they made of ?
    • How often do you change them ?
I hope I have the parts I originally removed .. I will look when I get home ..

    Diane

PS ... I was sitting there with a roll of gauze ... the material you use for a bandage .. I guess I can put that back in the medicine cabinet, huh ??

They don't come as standard with iolites from any other sellers....we only add them in as an extra so people have the option to try this method with e-liquid.

They are 10mm stainless steel finely woven gauze discs - I'm sure you'll probably be able to get them from most local head shops... when stacked in the iolite, they work well as a liquid retainer.... similar to the steel mesh in an atomiser....

So... Does anyone know if the e-liquid being made for the Iolite will contain VG??

I'm worried about the use of glyercin in the Iolite. They heat to a temp of 374F if I remember correctly and at that high temp there may be some bad juju coming off the glycerin... Anyone know about this stuff??

When heated above 280 °C, glycerin decomposes forming acrolein, a toxic, corrosive gas.

I have 2 Iolites and LOVE them but I've never used liquid in them.

The Iolite maintains a temperature of 190C, more than safe for VG

Cool. Thanks! I was just trying to look that up! I've never tried liquid in the Iolites, something to give a whirl

I was lucky enough to test the Iolite liquid and it's well worth trying when it is released. It opens a whole new world for us

EDIT - Did I say that already? lol

The new iolite liquid has both pg and vg, but as Frog has already pointed out the thermo regulated 190 degrees running temperature is well below the tipping point at which VG converts to acrolein.

In fact I suspect you have more chance of this happening with an ecig by holding down a manual switch for extended periods.... ever wondered what that funny smell was when you try to clean your atomiser by burning it dry?....

Acrolein is also one of the many byproducts of cigarette smoking, but funnily enough I never even knew about it until I started e-smoking and getting all health conscious like.

It also appears there is little to no evidence to suggest it is a carcinogen although inhaling vast quantities clearly isn't good:
Acrolein is an intense irritant and displays a range of toxic effects.
Levels of acrolein in cigarette smoke are 18–98 μg per cigarette. Acrolein is an intense irritant and displays a range of toxic effects, including cilia toxicity. With the exception of one study in which bladder tumors were produced by an initiation–promotion protocol in rats treated with acrolein (by i.p. injection) followed by dietary uracil, no carcinogenic effects of acrolein have been reported, perhaps because of efficient scavenging by glutathione and related sulfhydryls . An International Agency for Research on Cancer working group concluded that there was inadequate evidence for its carcinogenicity in experimental animals . Acrolein is widely believed to be responsible for the bladder toxicity of the chemotherapeutic agent cyclophosphamide. Thus, in laboratory animals, the carcinogenicity of acrolein, if it exists at all, is clearly substantially less than that of PAH or tobacco-specific nitrosamines.

Wow! Thanks for that! I was reading about Acrolein but you summed it up nicely!!

I am looking forward to trying this e-liquid made for the Iolites... Amazing after over 25 years of analogs... I never worried about the health stuff... Now I'm evolving

Is there a way for us to find out when the liquid becomes available?? I'm game to try it.

    Appreciate the great responses!!
