    1 WEEK UPDATE:
now that feel i have fully broken the unit in, i would like to revisit some topics. It seems the vapor has settled down a bit, and i may have attributed some of the strength to the fact that i was using freshly opened liquid. also, i thought it might have been unfair that i compared a newly broken in atomizer with a "very" broken in one. I still stand by most of my original review, but the vapor production is closer between the 901 and m401(Pilot)than what i saw the first few days. also, i am now "sure" that they are both running the same liquid in them. i still find the m401 much less finicky with being too wet or dry, and gives much more consistent vapor. its also less picky with draw(to get it lit and keep it lit). The pilot's batteries continue to astound me by lasting all day, and though i have not counted puffs will claim about double the battery life of the pilot over the 901.I still feel it is much more efficient since the pilot dosnt need as much "warm up" time and "hits" more consistently.

any updates on the pilot throat hit? has it gotten better since you broke in the atomizer? Just purchased mine last night since the restock, originally wanted the 901 but couldn't wait for it to be restocked :P

I am still in love with mine too.. put it in my signature I find that if I clean the atomizer every other night... it works the same as the first day I got it!!! (and I vape with it ALL day long!!!) I got a 3rd battery (finally) and now I can be out for 18-20 hours without a charger! Woohoo!

i have yet to clean any atomizer, i just am careful not to burn them. when i "revived" my 901 to re-compare, it gave a really harsh throat hit, but no vapor at first. by the next morning, the harshness went away, and the vapor returned. i think the throat hit between the 2 is comparable now, but maybe a bit stronger on the 901, and the 401 gives more vapor that is not "thicker", but a longer, more steady stream of a full exhale. BTW, one of the things i hated most about the 901 is how the mouthpiece leaked fluid where it connected to the atomizer.the pilot does not do this. i really like the pilot and just ordered a second kit today for extra parts. its a newer kit that has 1 long, 1 short battery(i requested 2 long, hope i get that), and supposedly has a usb charger( they said that in thier announcement, but it did not mention it on thier site when i ordered). i asked in the seller area if the usb "fast charges" like the evo, but havent seena response as of yet.

microphone . sorry.. it is supposedly electronic ignition, and i have heard that air going in the sides, and loud music can set it off. i have verified by blowing lightly at the atomizer hole that this DOES set it off. i havent verified the music, but im guessing its true. for you, i might suggest the puresmoker dse 901(pocket mini). this uses a system that should not get set off by music(its a physical switch moved by a diaphram). this may not be true of 901's from other places( there are 2 types, and the other one i heard is electronic like the 401, and may be sensetive to music)

if you're djing and you're using a laptop at all, i'd suggest a penstyle with manual switch and usb/battery box cable.

Hot tap water (but my tap produces REALLY hot water) run through both sides 2 or 3X then sit cart side down in a pair of pliers so both ends are not touching anything overnight until dry.
