Default PURESMOKER PILOT REVIEW by jimgman

Efficiency....is that what we all want? some want a fuel efficient car while others prefer to play. I've had my pilot about a week now, but only have used it a few days. Why? I was fighting off a cold, and overdosed on nic breaking in my new pilot. So i got sick, and didnt want to mess around too much with my nic levels while getting over it.Now after a few days of using it, i can say that i beleive it is much more efficient than my puresmoker dse 901. i tried to smoke it like the 901, and it creamed me. Let me explain....the 901 takes me about 2 drags to get warmed up before giving nice vapor(I feel a primer puff is simply a wasted drag). i will only take about 5 drags before letting both units cool off, and wick liquid(This may have something to do with my carts and atomizers all work like new after over a month-heat kills everything). The Pilot takes about half a drag to start giving good vapor. This is my theory as to why im getting at least twice as much nic from the same amount of drags.Since the pilot heats up faster, it seems to give vapor earlier in the drag, which in turn is giving more vapor and nic. Also, the 901 does not seem to drain the cart nearly as well, or maybe just wick the liquid as well, so it seems to need more topping up than the Pilot. As others have said, my experience with the batteries are that they last a lot longer than 901 batteries. It's about efficiency, and so far my experience is that im getting as much nic in about 5 puffs with the Pilot as I am with about 15 puffs from my 901. Tie this in with less frequent topping up of carts, and batteries that can last considrably longer, and you have a much more efficient beast...at least in my opinion. I have had the 901 over a month with 2 atomizers, one with a usb passthrough and one from batteries, so i feel i can judge it fairly. The carts on the Pilot are not as hard to top up as some people have made it seem.I was very concerned with this when i ordered it. Just drip away from the side that has the opening.I havent once accidentally dripped in the hole yet. I have noticed the throat hit is not quite as strong as the 901, and this may bother some. Maybe it just needs more breaking in, as I am still in early days with it, and this is more of a "first impression" review. Throat hit or not, it definitely delivers nicotine "efficiently". I will certainly post if any of my impressions change.

Nice review on the on the Pilot. I wonder about that throat hit and still say that goes to the e-liquid and not the device--but I could be wrong--Sun

i think its both the liquid and the unit, since i am using the same liquid for both. i would think i got all the primer fluid out by now, but time will tell. i wouldnt say no throat hit, just noticably less. i found i can increase the throat hit by hitting it softer and longer.....

I think it is a "smoother" throat hit... and I love it! I smoked Marlboro Menthol "Smooth" analogs and The true menthol cash e-juice in the pilot is so close to the real thing!

I just did a video review on 901 vs 401. I left a lot of things out of the video review... I am new to doing that and I forgot to write notes before I started rolling tape so I forgot a few things. But gives my opinion on them...

hmm, id love to see your video review..i dont see it in the video reviews section, where is it? also, as an update, i exclusively used the 401 yesterday to test the battery. i started at 4:30 am, and it died at 10 pm!!! i would have been on a 3rd 901 battery by then, but part of the reason is beacause if i hit it as often as the 901, i will od, LOL.

Does your review show how to top it off? I keep reading about this hard top up with the Pilot and I keep coming to the conclusion that I'll probably have to buy one and mess up topping up in order to figure what everyone is talking about.

as an update, ive gotten over 24 hours on each battery on the last charge cycle for each. though i seem to need less drags than with my 901, i would go through 3 batteries in 24 hours, so i think i can say they probably last about twice as long. i am blown away by the battery performance.

Nice review on this unit. Looks like it might be my next purchase. I just placed my first order with Pure Smoker and just hours later it has already shipped. Very great service!
