Thumbs up Leggo my eGo! A 1 week eGo review

    About the reviewer & disclaimers
First off, I got the eGo for free. Not because of, as you will soon see, my superb reviewing skills but because I won one in a contest held by Janty this past December. This will still be an honest review, as $80 plus s/h is not enough to buy me off. Almost, but not quite.

    Dealing with Janty
Has been a pleasure so far. Both Mik and Ethan are active on ECF and both are friendly, quick to answer questions, and they seem dedicated to making their customers happy.

    Packaging and 1st Impressions
Not that important to me but for those who care, the eGo comes well packaged in an attractive black box. All the items inside were snug and secure to prevent any damage in transit. It may not be important, but good packaging makes for good first impressions and I got one right away. An even better first impression is when you get your first look at a fully assembled eGo. This is a stylish PV.

    Vaping the eGo
My first PV was a generic 510 kit which I liked but did not love. I'm sure a lot of it was user error but even once I got the hang of vaping, I was never crazy about the taste. The eGo, for the most part, fixes that. The vapor is warmer and less harsh tasting. The draw is excellent, very cigarette-like. Comparing throat hit and vapor production to a standard 510, I'd say I get about a 10% improvement in both. But these kind of comparisons are hard to prove, my 510 batts are getting old and when you add in other variables like strength/type of juice, I think its safe to say that "actual results may vary". You should see an overall improvement over a standard 510 kit but how much is hard to quantify.
The one area where the eGo shines without question is battery life and performance. The eGo is simply phenomenal. The first batt I used lasted nine hours, and that was with me vaping much harder than I normally do. Subsequent charges have lasted me up to 15 hours. As others have mentioned, another great feature of the eGo is that performance drops off very little as the charge decreases, the last few hits will be almost as good as the first few. As if that battery life & performance wasn't amazing enough, the eGo also recharges in about 2 hours!

    Versatility
If you have a 510 to 901 adapter, the eGo works great with 901 attys and okay with KR8 cartomizers. Actually, I think its safe to say that the 901 atty is my personal favorite with the eGo battery. The eGo just seems to bring out the best in it. The vapor you get is thick, warm, and very tasty.
Using the KR8 cartos with the eGo batts is a bit trickier because of the atty cover. The first carto I used was a tight fit but worked well. The next one, despite being the exact same type of carto from the same vendor, didn't fit with the cover on. I didn't like the draw without the cover but others might.

    Overall
Simply put, so far, the eGo is an excellent PV with amazing battery life.

Crappy Photos - Sorry, best I can do for now.

    1) eGo with cartomizer

    2) eGo with 901 atty

    3) Comparison - top is 510, middle is XL KR8, bottom is eGo w/carto

A poster in a related thread actually peeled off the colored sticker which wraps the cartomizers. Apparently this improved the fit.

    Thanks for the review.

Thanks for the tip, Yano_JL, I'll have to give that a try.

I'm waiting on some 510 cartomizers that should be shipping out hopefully by the end of this week..I have yet to try one,but hoping they work as well on the ego as the 808's do on a kr style batt..i have never had a great experience using an 808 cartomizer with a 510 adapter at 3.7 volts..as it seems to create added resistance and diminishes the performance..i am very curious as to how this new combination will work out..i am optimistic tho at present ..

You are very welcome. When you do try it, I would really appreciate some feedback. I am interested in giving my cartomizers a "boost" without, if possible, a larger sized mod.

I currently use a 510 batt with adapter so that I can vape cartomizers. I find the vapor production to be kinda weak (using my regular juices), and I was kinda hoping the eGo with atty cover might give it the kick I am looking for.

If not, it looks like it will be HV mod-time for me. I love the convenience and flavor of the cartomizers, I just wanted a bigger cloud without a fistfull of gear.

    Thanks in advance.

    For Yano,
Okay, so stripping off the sticker does make it fit better. But using a carto without a sticker sucks, at least for me. I tend to bite down on the carto when I vape and without the sticker its like biting down on a big metal toothpick. You might be able to mod your way around that, however.
The performance with the cover on is pretty decent, better than when I use regular 510 batts. So you will see an improvement, if its enough for your tastes, I can't say. I still prefer using my KR8 batts when I use cartos, I use the eGo mostly with the 901.
Hope that helps a bit. If not, feel free to ask some more or PM me.
