I (on a recent trip from my home in Boston down to Florida) picked up an e-cig set-up. It's the RN40812A. While a little unpredictable in terms of battery life and smoke output, I'm more or less happy with it.
Here's where it gets weird: I've been running low on cartridges (still haven't got around to tracking down another source), and so I decided to experiment.
I've been dipping a needle into a jar of pure vanilla extract and "recharging" the carts. Seems to work pretty well - smokes and taste fine.
Questions:
Should I be worried about doing this?
Is there a better 'home remedy" out there?
I know I'm not your average camper, and I'd prefer to just have the regular cartridges, but I was in a pinch.
Thoughts?
There are numerous places here within the US that stock and sell a variety of the cartridges. On the average, you should expect to pay less than $10 for a package of 5 cartridges. Speaking only for ourselves, we sell packages of 5 for $7.99.

Pure vanilla?
If you're vaping without nicotine and like it, I suggest you continue your no nicotine approach.
The previous poster was right in that juice and cartridges are really cheap. Just get the zero nicotine ones.
And congrats! Quitting nicotine is pretty hard. It seems your placebo method worked well.
