Just finished watching the videos linked in Li-poly battery fire footage, From a link in the battery thread. Interesting watch, and ironically enough considering this thread it seams the culprit was a Li-Po battery for an RC helicopter. The battery explosions are in the third part, but the whole thing is worth watching. Will certainly make you think twice about just leaving your batteries charging unattended, especially after you've dropped your PV. Looking at my ego batts that tend to regularly fall out of my pocket in a whole new light.

I'm a bit of a battery "guy". Mostly because I've been doing it on my other hobby (RC stuff) and partly because I worked for a US battery company supplying LiPos to hobbyists.

As with all batteries and electronics, care needs to be taken. RC applications are often times pushed beyond what the battery should do. What I mean by this is, batteries are over discharged and then put on a charger too quickly. Or, in an attempt to save time, they dump too much power back in, too quickly.

Honestly, all batteries can "pop", even Nickel chemistries. None of them should be left charging unattended.

Would you change anything about them? I'm curious given recent experiences at Q and elsewhere, and discussions here, what changes would be made? -Magnus
I regularly give out ECF business cards along with this tri-fold CASAA brochure...

There are some small changes I'd like to see made to both.

I bought a Liposack after reading that thread.

That would be a great opener on a first date hehe. Yeah it's amazing enough to check through your ancestry to see what's there. Most people will have a known historical character or more to point to. Six degrees of seperation and all that.

I'll definitely be picking your brain when I can get back into the hobby. On my last few flights with my T-Rex my batteries were looking like sausages afterwards, so I'll be looking for good replacements for them as part of my rebuild.

Haven't been to Helifreak in awhile, I'm way behind on the latest and greatest Heli stuff.

A $5 crock pot will do the same thing. I use one when charging my batteries.

I'm always here and there. I'm everywhere I might be typing this from behind your couch, or in your closet, or in your pantry.....

Screwing up my wife's crock pot is not conducive to a long and healthy life.

EDIT: Wait, you can get a crock pot for $5 somewhere?
EDIT: Meh, doesn't matter, keeping a crock pot in the laundry room would not be cool anyway.
EDIT: The Liposack I can fold up and put in a drawer.

They certainly look like a good idea, but....

.... sounds like a great idea. Surprised I didn't think of it, considering I'm staring at a couple of cheapo crock pots sitting on my workbench, holding chemicals I need contained for another hobby. Looks like I should add that to my shopping list for my next trip to Walmart, thanks.
