I don't want to discourage anyone. I am doing quite well, but I have not yet been able to completely quit analogs. I have been vaping since Aug 2009. I still smoke a few, but have cut from 2+ PAD to about 8 and am using 6mg juice. I have smoked for 40 years. I might can quit if I up the nic, but am currently being monitored for a heart study and do not want to OD accidentally on nic and skew the study. I don't think I have a heart problem, I think my problems are panic attacks. However, since this is such new technology, most docs (I have 3) are unwilling or unable to discuss the real problems of smoking cessation, IMO. When the heart study is complete, I am upping the nic and trying to get off analogs. My lungs suffer when I smoke and I can really tell the difference.

If you haven't been able to quit completely, please don't give up. There are other smokeless products and a lot of people on here who will help you!

Panic attacks feel as if you are having a heart attack sometimes.
I used to get them, and did not know what they were.
Panic attacks do tend to suddenly diminish when you get into your forties.
They are more common in young adults.
What you must try NOT TO DO, is take benzodiazepines and alcohol (auto medication), to make your panic attacks go away.
The panic attack is stronger and more powerful than any medication.
The way i found that helps is to welcome them, and acknowledge you have them. Don't fight them.

Symptoms of a panic attack as I knew it was :
    Progressively fast heartbeat
    rapid breathing
feeling of lack of oxygen , when in fact you are saturated by it, and need more co2.
    Sweat.
    Want to run away.
    Tingling in hands, cramps.
    Fainting sometimes.

You should always have a bag you can breathe into so as to get more co2.
If certain places or people trigger these attacks, stay clear for a few months until you can better understand what you are up against.
    Hope this helps

Havent had a single analog cig since I started vaping two months ago. And I was smoking a pack a day of non-filtered cigs. It has taken almost no effort. I prefer vaping. I use a 36 mg liquid and get all the nicotine i crave. I am upping to a 40-48 mg liquid just so i can vape a little less

Dont know if this will be of interest to you.

I got my blood pressure checked about 3 months after starting vaping .

It was good when I smoked 117 - 120/72 - 78 and it was still around the same.

    Was vaping 20ml of 18mg strengh a week .

quovadis: Can't say for sure this is my problem, hence the heart study. Others have pointed to the possibility of panic/anxiety attacks. I haven't had as severe symptoms as you describe, that does indeed sound frightening. I appreciate your feedback.

I have smoked over 40 years and started the ecig last week and the first hit satisfied me enough I completely put the analogs down. Now if I think of one, I know it would make me cough and cough because of it being so harsh, and plus the smell I can't stand..my car is foul smelling from me smoking in there.
And my smokers cough is already gone.

I started to quit about three months ago cold turkey. It sucked. After a week I said to hell with it and grabbed an analog. Sucked even worse. Made me feel like crap and got a killer headache. Fortunately there weren't any more analogs left in the house.

About 3 weeks after I quit, I went to a friend's house. They were all smoking. That really sucked. I wanted one so bad even knowing what the last one did.

I accidentally clicked an ad for Blu while surfing one day. Sounded like a good idea. I googled e-cigs and waded through the mess of results. I wanted an e-cig that looked like an analog so I wouldn't have to put up with questions too much. I settled on a starter kit from Volcano for a branded L88b. Got it in 4 days and started vaping.

Now I can sit in a room full of chain smokers and not feel the need to grab a smoke. I'm not really bothered by the second hand smoke too much, but I'm not fond of it to be sure. I've managed to get a few friends to try it out, but they're heavy, long-term smokers without any desire to quit.

I feel more energetic and haven't had to deal with the smoker's cough since I started. I'm pretty damn sure that if I hadn't stumbled onto these things I would probably be back smoking right now.

I started vaping at the beginning of December 2008 but still smoked analogs, I didnt have my last analog until 9 February 2009.

I know quite a few people who just couldnt get on with ecigs. Others take to them real easy. What works for me may well not work for you, we each have to find our own way but I do believe that there is a way for everybody.
