    Default Smoktech tank problems

So I have been using a standard 3.0 ml tank and single coil 3.0 ohm carto from smoktech. These cartos are prepunched with one hole.

I swear at least one in five wick properly. I use 80pg 20vg liquid and I usually fill the cartos with about 30 drops of liquid, then fill the tank and leave it overnight to saturate properly. For some reason it's usually a hit or miss. The vapor tastes burnt or perfectly fine. But for some reason I swear most of the time it tastes like I'm vaping burnt liquid.

Am I doing something incorrect here? Also, on the good cartos the poly fill on the top is usually properly saturated while the burnt tasting ones are usually dry at the top. Also, I notice that I have to do a hard draw to get any air bubbles to come through the hole. One solution I tried was to make the hole a little bigger. But still burnt taste.

Now another note is that I have used boge single coil cartos with a j tank. And those seem to have a even more burnt taste.

Is this normal? I mean do tanks cause a slight change in flavor vs regular cartos or attys?

    Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried taking a few dry pulls from the tank before vaping? I always do tho, then vape take a short vape, then progressively longer vapes to get started with a new carto.

I have. With the good cartos I can do a short draw and I get good saturation. With the bad ones I need to do a very strong pull to get any air bubbles. Also should I be hearing the typical crackling throughout my draw while vaping? With the bad cartos it seems like there is no crackling just an initial crackling and then a dry burn. It's driving me crazy!

Definitely should be hearing the crackling sound of vaporizing the juice. Sounds like the carto is not primed enough. Try the condom fill method to prime it. Several videos on Youtube for this. I personally had a lot of problems with Smoketechs and switched to Boges.

As we speak I condom filled a boge carto let it sit for a couple hours and just started vaping it. It's a HR single coil and when I prime no air bubbles are coming out. Initial crackling and then dry burn it seems.

They are easy to burn. And there seem to be some bad ones also. Just vape them before you stick them in the tank. I've rushed it a number of times and burnt them. It seems safest to soak them to the point you have to blow them out to clear the center. imo.

Everything you said is dead on. I do these initial steps but it seems like with tanks I'm constantly getting a burnt taste, only on certain carts I'm fine. I've done so much research and steps for proper wicking, dry pulling, condom filling, etc. I'm getting to the point where I feel that cartos in tanks construe taste to a certain extent.

Don't know if you are interested or not, but I slot my Boge carts with a Dremel tool and have never had a problem yet.

This I haven't tried. Will need to buy a dremel tool for this. Question though: do slotted carts with thinner liquid have a higher chance of constant flooding? Flyer what mixture liquid do you normally vape.

I have never found pre-slotted carto's, I slot them myself. I did buy a Dremel to do this and it only takes about 1 minute to put two slots in a carto. I do it just like this -
