Why are my 18650 (i have 2, both different brands) batteries showing only 4v at full charge... From what ive read it should be 4.2v.. I also have a cheap charger but i dont know if this is normal
I have a vamo v5 checking my voltage and my batteries are the panasonic vtc-4 and a trustfire. The charger is a cheap 15$ charger my local ecig store threw in when i bought the vamo, i asked him if it was ideal to buy a better charger and he told me his honest opinion that it wouldnt change the battery voltage and would only take longer to charge.
update: went to the local cape store and tested all kinds of different batteries at full charge...on all other devices they read 4.2 and on my vamo it will read 4.1 then after the first hit of vape be at 4v from then on..seems like the voltage meter is wrong on the vamo...dont know why though
Your device is simply 'rounding' to the closest whole number. So if it's 4.1 or 4.2 it is showing 4. If you were to check it in a multimeter it would say 4.2 I bet. Well, I don't bet since there are other variables but ..... Probably that's the case.
There tends to be some voltage drop that also occurs. Typically most high end chargers compensate for that. Many devices that take batteries do not. Your device could be rounding the voltage that it's actually putting out at the contact.
