It helps to put a couple drops right onto the coil and wait a while before vaping it. Also make sure to keep it relatively full. Most of the time the burnt taste is from it not getting juice. Tipping helps.
If you trim the wicks up so the are just a bit longer than the tank is wide and then fluff them up a bit, they will wick much better. Also with a new head, wash it first before using, the wicks will sometimes have crud left on them from manufacturing.
Glad to hear it's working out for you nobreak! I still remember my start vaping experience and I felt the same way when I switched to CE4's in June 2012. Much better than what I started with and I thought CE4's were going to be what I would vape forever. I mean, how could anything be better
Well, I suggest you don't stock up on too many VVN's
One more thing. The VVN's like the CE4's like to be rinsed and dry burned often. I do mine every 2 - 5 tank fulls depending on how gunky the juice is. I have one VVN head that I must have put 75 ml of juice through. Very durable with proper maintenance.
