Wood Zebra Wood/Brass/Dual 18650

Finally a dual mod for a "table model". Features zebra wood, brass, 22 caliber shells for buttons and a magnetic closure. A bit bigger than needed, but - I have giant hands, wanted a table top model and room to work my first time out doing one from scratch. I am waiting on a old brass door bell button and a brass rda to go with it.

I am putting the chip in today, but I don't do insides very pretty. I will take a pick when it is wired up.

Nothing fancy on the inside...wired it up this AM.



I spent most of the AM brazing up an aluminum enclosure for what I think will be a bottom feeder. The braze joints are more or less seamless now. The outer casing will be purple heart with some interesting twists.

very very clean work buddy, keep us posted on the BF, I'm gonna start my first wood mod and it is going to be a BF, possibly dna regulated, so I'm very interested about how more experienced modders work

What switches did you use for the up/down buttons? I want to make some custom caps for my switches, but haven't figured out which switch would be easy to use for that purpose...

The method is to make your custom cap with a inner hold that fits snugly on the post and then make a hold in the mod that is a close fit to the outer diameter of your custom cap, place the cap in the mod, place the switch in the cap on the reverse side and tack down so that the alignment is perfect. From there you can permanently attach as you see fit. I have some buttons coming from shapeways that are designed for this post.

Thanks - I was looking at switches like those from digikey (E switch TL 1105 series) - I didn't know if the black cap was solid tho. What I was planning was to use some 1/4" aluminum rod to make the caps, then use a small grub screw axially to join the two parts together (using loctite on the aluminum end and CA glue on the switch end).

Youre really skilled. This is awesome. Only thing i would change is to a more flush Mitec fire button. Otherwise it looks great! Im in the process of trying to make my own regulated wood mod. Was hoping there wood be more activity in this forum but the posts I have found have been good quality.

I actually have an antique brass door bell for it as a button...just need time in the shop to get it straight. Thanks for your praise and you can add some activity to this sub-forum.
