See the thread in this same forum titled Replacing Cartridge Wool. Look at JennyDots pics on page 19. Like she says, I think it is a littlle loose. I would post a link but I am still a noob here.

vandal .. the link didn't work. Can some brave soul kindly post a couple of pictures illustrating the optimal tea bag approach?? I've seen six thousand pages of discussion on this, and not one picture. I would post them if I knew how to properly use the tea bag. thanks in advance.

Tea bag?? I've been using the fish filter badding. Remember the old charcoal/filter setup with the air pump??? The filter/badding seems to be the same as what new carts have in them. Been working sweet for my 901 refills.

I've been trying this method for the last few days. I've adjusted the amount of tea bag used in carts, rolled loosely and not so loosely, etc. I find that it gets great wicking action, but I cannot seem to use all of the juice in the bag...not even close...before the flavor runs out with my drags. It's good for maybe 10 drags before I have to refill. And when I top off it floods my atomizer. It's frustrating. I've even combined the straw mod and tea bag mod together and it still doesn't use all of the juice. It's better than polyfill, but still not optimal for me. I may be doing something wrong, but the frustration isn't worth it to me. I have some fish filter coming in the mail (hopefully today) and have heard this works wonders. Sure hope so. |

You are using the nylon Pyramid bag, right? Even so, I ditched it. I am now using the blue foam, Marineland brand type "U" magnum filter sleeve material (you can get it at Petsmart or Petco aquarium filter section). Best filler I've run into so far. Works great on my 510 and will try it in the NPRO soon. There is a whole thread on the eheim blue foam. Easy to work with and compression adjustable for different viscosity liquids.
