If you're topping off with a dropper bottle, you can, depending on the condition of the cart material, get at least 20 drops in a cart. Personally, I don't fill the carts any more, I just get 10 to 15 drops in, enough for 3 or 4 cigs worth of smoking, to avoid overfilling and flooding the atty.
Thanks this really helps. I know how to fill just didnt know how much to fill the 801. also i am looking for someone with good web site building skills and or a partner to start a business with (prefer you live in the Pittsburgh area) in electronic cigarettes. I have already purchased a awesome domain name electronicVapor.com If interested email me at electronicvapor@gmail.com untill i set up my biz email.

    TMBrown,
ALSO it's an excuse that the government can use AGAINST the industry....so 3 reasons....and being sued isn't one that I am concerned with. ONE I have a substantial product liability insurance policy and TWO our juice is FAR different than the stuff coming from China.... I would be able to tell via lab analysis if it wasn't my cartridges.

While we're on the subject, how are the distributors and manufacturers of your Chinese juice insured...my bet is they aren't....stay safe my friends....

The title of this thread is: "Dripping and Topping: A Happy Medium?"

It was the first word that caused me to read through all the posts thus far. Although I have learned a lot about topping and filling (and bacteria) - which is indeed relevant to my vaping - I've seen virtually nothing about *dripping*.

And I'm surprised. So many of the videos I've seen and comments I've read (by vapers far more experienced than I) have led me to believe that dripping directly on the atomizer was *the* way to go. I've not done it yet, because I have only one remaining working atomizer in my meager collection (of two).

Most of the device and parts vendors (at least on their websites) discourage dripping. And I don't see any pecuniary bias distorting their point of view. (Financially, they'd be better off if customers regularly damaged their attys and had to order lots more.)

And dripping 2-3 drops of liquid every few minutes seems like it would be a nuisance (and messy), especially when out and about.

But, as I mentioned, so many of the Senior and Super members of ECF swear by it.

BTW, what is it about the Janty Stick that relates to topping off carts? Isn't it just* a housing for a more powerful, longer-lasting battery, like the GG, SD, or Prodigy (that I have on order)? Does it have a juice pump (like the. UPAC) that I'm not aware of?

    * "just" only in this context. I am a convert to the fat PVs.

Sorry, I don't understand the reasoning behind the third reason, just dim I guess.

Anyway, I haven't bought all that much juice yet, and most of that came from JC. I agree about controls from China, sketchy at best. Again though, we're all just guessing until someone does some definitive testing.

I don't know about 'most' or 'some', there are a lot of opinions out there, from users and sellers, you pretty much have to apply some common sense and make up your own mind.

I've tried both ways, and you're right, the dripping rigamarole is a nuisance, but it does get results, quite noticeable. Personally, I don't drip, I top off and toss the carts after a few days. Cheap enough (compared to smokes), to do that.

You're right, the stick is another (albeit more polished) variation of the SD type mods. Big battery holder attached to an 801. So if you drip, top off or use pre-filled carts on an 801, you'd probably do the same for the stick.

I have a 901, been vaping and cigarette free for 30 days now. I had initially thought of the syrige method, but I have about 30 carts and every weekend do the clean and fill. I pull all polyfill out and rinse in hot water then use a clean towel to blot dry them. At the same time I rinse out the carts with hot water and set aside to dry. I then take my carts and assebly line fill them. I have found each cart can hold roughly 12-14 drops depending on the size of the drop that come out. I fill to about 1/8" from the top and push the batting back in. I have not had one overflow as the batting goes in it absorbs the liquid. then I push the batting flush cap cover and go to the next. When I am done I set all the cart in the filled box and as I use them the used go in the empty box. I use the top and bottom of a Ipod Touch box and seems to work good. The whole process take about 30 min and I am good fo a week. Dripping is a waste of time. I get the same if not more duration of vap when I refill my own. When a tip is broken I order another 5 empty carts and keep filling. If the poly is burnt down I have the "Small" bag of poly fill sheeting from walmart that was 8 bucks that should at this rate last me a life time. Since the sheet poly is 1/8" thick even though it says 1/4 and I cut the batting 1/4" wide by 1 1/2" long then double it over and it is ready to go in 1/4" x 1/4" x 3/4". A steel ruler and a xacto knife makes fast work of producing these accurately.
Well nice thread, I am working on my first mod wish me luck
