battery found that fits the loong threads...and then the bad news.

so i found a battery that fits the loong totem cartridge. its the battery from the device known as e-mini cig from .......... and other places. its a good fit though the threads are not as long.

if you screw it in in wont work though as i thought perhaps the inner terminals were not touching. did a little soldering to make sure they would and still no dice. dont know much about batteries, so im not sure where i am going wrong.

dont have any other materials to use though i hope to find a little copper wire. pulled some out of an old flex but it was too thin and awquard to use.

i think the reason i cant get it to work though is that loong spent a bit of money on his batteries to make them difficult to be swopped for others. if you notice there is a crossed groove that is unique their design. I also cant get a reading off these with a multi-meter in the same manner i am accustomed to with other types which also perplexes me. the charger says they are 4.7V though.

The graphic i did up below tries to show what i mean. dont have a good camera at the moment so i hope someone will understand and point me in the right direction. the top image represents the loong battery looking straight down at the terminal and threads, labeled as "new battery". the one below is the more common ones we are all used to seeing. hope it makes sense.

You're just bnot gettign the right connection- I used a SmartFixx battery, and it worked just fine- soldered the loong threads onto the Smartfixx battery. It could just be that you're not gettign enough draw to activate the atomizer too- try removing the endcap- see if that works to increase the draw. TB was also able ot get a Health cigg battery to work in the loong cartridges, but hte threads just didn't quite fit- had to hold it all together- so it's not the design of the htreads that makes it work, but rather the right connections

i can see how soldering the threads from a loong battery would work but this is slightly different as im managing to screw in the threads from an entirely different battery. i'll keep trying different things though, cant find any washers that are small enough, but if i could they would be perfect to decipher whether or not this battery will work. they need to be very thin also as there really isnt that much space to cover between the two inner terminals. what do you think of the loong terminals naz? can you think of any reason why they have that cross groove? air-flow perhaps? isnt it weird, i cant get a reading from them using a multi-meter?

probably just airflow- Yeah- the way I did it used the same threads- but TB managed ot use different threads and got it working- The actual connections are kinda complicated as they have a small rubber-like seperator which keeps the inner pice from contacting the outer threads which prevents shortign hte whole thing out or runnning down battery quickly-- I think probably what is happening is that the muddle piece on your battery isn't touching the middle piece in the cartridge- if you manage to make a spacer, you'll need to wrap the spacer in rubber or perhaps plastic to keep it from contacting the outer threads- liquid tape should do the trick- just put some liquid tape around hte edge of the spacer.

But really, if Ecigg's super mini cig- their newest one- is infact the same as a loong- then I think we can just pick a bunch of batteries up from E-Ci8gg pretty cheapely and have a pretty good deal going and not have to mess with tryign to make other batteries work with spacers & such

yeah true enough about e-cigs new model, but as i am yet to order or have it arrive, i want to mess around with this mini e-cig batt.

I think probably what is happening is that the muddle piece on your battery isn't touching the middle piece in the cartridge

i did add a piece of solder to bridge the gap and i know it was touching cause i had to squeeze them on. puffed like nervous teen on a first date but to no affect. liquid tape....now that's a new one on me but i should use some sort of insulator if i think the washer might touch the outer terminals. figured if i placed the washer precisely and screwed in tightly, it wouldnt budge. still no closer to finding said washer though, none at the hardware store, be trying a plumbers next or perhaps a model shop.

the mini e-cig battery is 4.2 volts by the way. crap mah though

Here's all I found on the LoongTotem matchup: The battery for the Health mini e-cig, as Naz mentioned, can be pressed against an LT cartridge and that works. But it has to be held in place. No solution at all. The battery for a Janty Kissbox screws right into the LT cartridge -- but the middles don't touch. No solution at all. The Janty possibility intrigues me no end, since I can screw the LT onto the Janty USB cable end. If I could just make that setup work, I'd be home free.

you tried finding a small washer that would bridge the gap or used a bit of solder bob?

I thought of solder and intended to try that. A washer would have to be super small, like for jewelry maybe. Haven't thought of that.

TB, find some copper sheeting & cut out crude washer with hole in it, but as I mentioned, you'll need to somehow keep it from contacting hte outer part of hte threads somehow as it will most likely either short hte unit or drain battery- not real sure hte mechanics of it all, but when I took apart my threads (after it broke ) I noticed the middle part was kept seperate from outer part by small rubber 'bushing-like' part to keep the two parts from connecting. This should work fine, but it would be loose parts unless you can solder them onto the battery- but it's quite delicate work- tyoo much for my funble-fingers lol
