Question Cola cleaned Atty is now too hot?

    Hey guys,

My atty had started to act kinda weird -- tasting really burnt/bad even with a charged battery and new cartridge...so I tried the cola method of cleaning it (actually it was mountain dew). I plopped my atty mountain dew last night and then this morning i washed it out with bottled water. After a few hours i came back and blew into it with a paper towel on the other side to get a lot of the water out. Then I left it to dry for about another hour. Now I have put some drops directly on the bridge, and then loaded a new cartridge with liquid and puffed on it some...the problem is that the atty now gets REALLY hot when I puff on it. There is vapor, but the vapor coming into my mouth is A LOT warmer than it has ever been. I'm worried if I continue using it then I will break it or something. Whats going on? Did I do something wrong?

    Thanks

Drip a little more juice into it, it needs to have the metal sponge saturated to really work right. There is probably still a little water inside. Be sure to watch the battery contacts in case it floods, but it should catch up and work good.

I place my attys on top of a 50 watt light bulb for about 20 minutes to get them completely dry (they get really hot, but so far no harm at all), they seem to re-prime and get going faster when they have no water remaining in them at all.

I bet the bad taste is gone

I just swish mine around in some plain old rubbing acohol and blow through both ends, and dry off with a towel. Then I put the atty on a battery and blow through the led end to burn off what's left of the alcohol. Works good for me.

I have 2 901 atomizers w/that stupid burnt taste and hot vapor and I've tried a million things..and nothing has worked..the taste is so awful and the atomizers were only used for less than a week when this happened..

I switched to the 501 for now

I use the cola method and a warm water rinse. Then blow out the excess water into a tissue and let it air dry for an hour while propped in a window or furnace vent. Really no reason to get the atty totally dry as the vape juice has water in it already.

Mountain Dew is not Coke. A quick search for the ingredients of Mountain Dew doesn't list phosphoric acid as an ingredient. That's the reason why coke is suggested as a cleanser.

LOL...Doh! Darn me for only drinking light sodas! I just took a look at the ingredients on Mtn Dew and saw a couple different acids (incl. citric acid) and didn't think about the difference. Well...the bad taste is gone though...so maybe it still worked, but in the future I'll spring the money for a bottle of coke and try that. Thanks

Maya--the problem here with this atomizer is that the mesh is not absorbing the e-liquid. The coil is fine but absent the mesh holding e-liquid, it will not vape and only produce heat. Cleaning will usually clear this issue, but many times the mesh simply will not take the e-liquid. Try just using a tip without the white cartridge and drip smoke with it using 2 drops and see if it vapes. After a cleaning, many times you have to totally flood the atomizer with e-liquid to reprime the mesh and then drain it and blow it out. Only then will the mesh be primed enough to vape.

If that fails, then the atomizer is no longer viable due to the mesh's inability to absorb. This is one of the causes that leads to a total atomizer failure as the mesh no longer cools the coil and then burns the leads out.

I had a similar problem with 2 attys I tried soaking in Everclear. The burnt taste was awful, so I went back to soaking them in DietRite Cola (Pepsi, Coke DietRite all contain Phosphoric Acid) followed by a rinse in distilled water, blow out, dry and prime. Burnt tase went away.
