"Packing" the e-cig? I swear this works.....
So i just got my first bottle of juice today....E-smokey treats menthol and I just refilled a bunch of cartridges. Having looked inside and taken apart the carts, rinsed out the filler ect.....I kinda got a good understanding of exactly how the relationship of the filler, liquid and atty work together.
After vaping on a cart for a while and then getting that funky taste of a dying cartdrige I peeked inside and noticed the filler was pushed way back into the cart. I "packed" it against my hand to bring it out a little more, thus bringing more wetness to the atty...and it tasted better with more vape.. Ive been packing the whole thing from time to time (LED side down on my palm) and I swear this seems to draw some liquid towards the atty and push the filler closer making better vape.
Does anyone else do this or am I just smoking something??
Get it?? SMOKING SOMETHING??

Sounds like you need to learn about the "straw mod". Use the search feature of the forum and search for it. It will knock your socks off.

I do the same thing. I figure because the fiber closest to the atty gets so dry, there's gotta be some xtra juice towards the other end of the cart. i just whack my ecig bat-side down against my palm for a few seconds and voila. better drags. at least for a little while..

Well - Sure - You are bringing more juice to the front of the cart - You will soon develop all sorts of odd maneuvers to keep the vape alive - That is one of the least odd - Most folks carry tweezers and just pull it out - You may want to be careful with the packing move - the electronics in the battery are not shock resistant - over time you may damage it -

Damn dude, you just struck a chord with me.
I have made a few posts recently about refilling cartridges and how the filler is shrunken and keeps on getting pushed down so it is not making good contact with the atomizer bridge.
Nobody has responded, which of course makes me think I'm insane or something.
My solution was to rinse out the filler, dry it out by smashing between paper towels, and then plump it up just a bit. Seems to have solved my problems. Buy you said you already clean them and still have this problem. This baffles me, and makes me wonder WTFBBQ.
But packing them?
Really?
I could see it, given the issues I was having.

It's the bridge (the little mesh screen part)- This pushes up into the packing material - It looks like it is set far back - But when it is seated contact is being made - It is the thing that made the indentation that way to begin with - It's form fitting - if you will - The "packing" is not really bringing the polly-fiber in to contact with the bridge - it is just bringing the juice down from where it pools at the mouth end of the fiber -
I did the same thing with mine by shaking it lightly like a thermometer or if it was really dry - by spinning my arm with it in my hand to use centrifugal force to get more juice onto the atty - I don't use the carts anymore though - makes life a lot easier -

Perhaps its better to just remove the cartridge and "pack" that instead of the whole thing..

Sure - Or just shake it gently or a similar move that avoids repetitively jarring it - But like I said - Personally I think the best solution is to just drip and not use the cart at all - carts are a pain - There are many atomizer warnings saying not to drip directly onto the atomizers - I'm pretty sure this is only an issue if you have an open system - If you are using a sealed battery system like the 510 manual or the JantyStick I don't think there is any harm to be done to the atty - There really is no difference between 2-3 drops directly on the atty and putting a juicy cart directly onto the atty - Either way you are getting the atty wet with juice - that's how it functions
For the straw thing - Those little ones that you get to stir coffee with at the 7-11 and such seem to be the ones people use -

Sounds to me like you would wind up with juice all over your hand. Probably not a good idea.
