Awesome mod, though i must say ive had to use a whole bag in my 510. A 1/2 bag seemed to small and tended to leak, the whole bag is a perfect fit and lasts all day now.

is it necessary to have to use only the pyramid teabags? or will any do the job?

This seems like it may be a bit more challenging on a 401. I suppose it would work if a person could get the filter lined up properly while being way down in the cartridge.

Did Ihatenic say he was sucessful using this method on a 401? How much time did that take?

Yes, unless you can find a different one made out of nylon.

Finally got around to trying out his mod in my 510. WOW! I'm absolutely stunned by the improvement. And since I'm using PTBs from Equal Exchange (a fare trade brand), it's a total win/win!
