Harney and Sons tea (which I get from Barnes and Noble) has pyramid teabags (and comes in a tin!). Yes, they are nylon, and their tea tastes waaay better than Lypton. I usually use my 10% B&N member discount after I find them on a 1/2 sale at $5/box of 20 bags (typically I get the holiday blend after the holidays and hoard it for the next year, it's that tasty).

There are also a lot of other tea brands out there with nylon bags. The trend first started among the organic and eco-conscious tea manufacturers, and then spread to Lypton and the other mainstream teas. So if you're a tea-o-holic like I am, and are not typically fond of Lyptons, there's plenty of others to pick from.

Anyone else get kind of a funky taste with the ptb mod?

I wouldn't say it tastes burnt, but there's definitely a weird taste I get after throwing in one of these nylon bags.

So I just dissected one of my carts to see what was going on and if I could actually get the filler out. How am I supposed to get the old filler out without tearing up the atty? Maybe I cant use this method with these type of carts? I am using blank ones from V4L.

When I took it apart there were some black parts. Maybe I should just throw the whole cart in some boiling water for a few days to clean it every couple of days to make sure it doesn't burn up? gosh idk

Have been using the original PTB (pyramid tea bag?) mod for a few weeks here on 510s and 901s. My results

    * great overall: much better than original poly-fill
    * learned: don't overfill, otherwise they really leak all over the place (haven't tried poly-dam addon to PTB mod yet)
    * learned: store in pocket cartridge-side down, to not encourage leaking
    * note: even with sometimes leaking, have not ruined any batteries, except for maybe my one auto 901, which doesn't want to charge sometimes, it just flashes

What is the current "best" PTB mod? Just PTB with a poly cap/dam? Or something else?

    Mooby,

Quick clarification question, because I'm not 100% certain after watching all 4 videos:

So for the 401/2/3 models you take a single square (aka half the total bag material), fold that in half, then roll, fold & stuff into the inner cart just like you did with the larger cart in video 1?

Thanks so much, this is only my second day on the forum and so far your videos and reviews are the most helpful, informative things I've found!

Newbie checking in to tell MoobyGhost he just saved me from a huge headache.

I have had the worst time refilling carts. The m401 cart batting tends to fall apart and smush up no matter how careful I am washing and drying it, and when I fill the cart and push it back down the stuff always goes to the bottom and ends up screwing up on me. I wanted to initially try the blue foam mod, but we've had huge snowstorms here over the last few days (my car slid off my driveway last night and we had to haul it out this morning) and the closest pet store is all the way across town on some roads that are still less than stellar.

There's a grocery store two minutes away, though. Ran in, grabbed a box of white tea with blueberry (which I'll no doubt brew in an in-mug basket I have - I'm already a huge tea fan), followed the video instructions and now I've got cart filler that doesn't suck. It took me two tries (I cut the first one down just a bit too far to get a good vape) but it's working like a charm now.

Huge, huge improvement. Thank you so much.

    Yup,
Thanks for the video. I tried it with a couple carts yesterday and came home after work and made a bunch. Really improves the whole experience. Im down to two analogs a day and ready to give them up altogether and this mod makes it even more doable. How many time can you refill the cart before you have to change/wash the filler?

If you're a tea drinker then yes, Harney's is the way to go. I prefer the White Christmas blend myself. If you don't drink tea then Lipton is where it's at as it's cheaper if you're just going to chuck it out and not use the tea. Also, there are 30 pyramids in the Harney tins at B&N, as opposed to 20 in the Lipton.
