i think the average temp found in the atomizer is about 130 f
if this is correct it seems well below the melting point of pet at 500f

The confusion comes from where the temp is measured. True the cart shouldn't see enough heat to melt anything. The liquid is wicked down to the heating coil where it is vaporized at a much higher temp than the cart sees.
I wasn't meaning to insinuate that there is danger of melting the nylon or even the poly fill during normal use.

if i make you feel uncomfortable by telling you what i heard first hand and talk about my own personal experience and thoughts on the use of ptb's there's nothing i can do about that.
i'm currently using the ptb mod. so i feel that gives me the right to talk about it. isn't that what this forum is all about?

You are over 200 degrees low on the atty temp. What temp do you think nickle chromium wire glows red orange at?

Nicotine vaporizes around 257F to 302F and propylene glycol (PG) at 370F so it has to get at least that hot to even work.

I believe it was the FDA report itself that suggested the atty did not get over 60 C, which I based the figure of 140 F on...

Um... i dunno, but i think i may have experienced melting. Its just that when my liquid gets really low and i vape, i get a wierd plastic ish taste in my mouth and when I look at the PTB inside the 501 cart, it looks a bit different than the rest.

We have to figure out a way to get the liquid from the rest of the PTB to the top, where the atty makes contact... otherwise, wasting liquid

If you are using a sealed battery then a few thermometer type shakes will cause liquid to move from the end of the cart near your mouth to the end near the atty. Don't do it holding onto the cart, make sure you have a grip on the atty and it's attached well to the battery so you don't end up with projectiles. I've found that while in use the PTB looks like it's kinda different because it is being pressed back by the atty bridge, but if you take it out, wash it, and spread it out you can tell it's not melted, just smooshed. The taste is probably from the atty starting to get dry. When that happens try the shake method and see if that helps. I've also found that washing out the PTB every day or 2 helps it wick better. If I wash one that has only been in use for a day so I can do a totally different kind of flavor I will find that there is hardly any juice left, but the 2nd day it has a little more that I wasn't able to vape out and one that I didn't change for 3 days had even more. Hope some of this helps, I know it was kind of rambly.

I've also been doing this for about a month with PTB's Moonflame! I hope this helps a lot of vapers with the same problem with their PTB's... sometimes the simplest solution can be the one that's overlooked.

My girlfriend's doctors and obgyn told her that she shouldn't drink water contained in PET reusable water bottles as the PET has chemicals that get in the water and can cause cervical cancer. Think you could inhale these chemicals if these teabags are indeed made of PET?

IDK, sorry. Perhaps we could just use our own judgment for now. We do need a comprehensive study of these.
