I've found my favourite way yet to use PTBs to fill 510 carts, I think it was inspired by someone on this forum but I can't find the post now. Basically it's the best of both worlds,
PTB filler and the reservoir/plug setup that people have been trying to find perfect plugs for. It does involve a lot of tricky rolling, so be patient! I think my experimentation is over, every drag from this cart has been perfect so far and there's an awful lot of liquid in there. I'll count the drops next time I do it. On short drags I'm getting twice as much vapor as I did with other
PTB rolling methods (I assure you I have tried them all and quite a few I've never seen anyone else do) and 10 second 'bonghits' are ridiculous. Wicking is just as good if not better than all the other methods I've tried.
- Half-fill your cart with liquid. You probably won't have your hands free to do this later.
- Cut your PTB into two 1"x1" squares. Fold one of them in half as firmly as you can.
- Fit the unfolded square into the folded square so one edge is against the fold. You should now have one square, half of which has three layers and the other half one layer.
- From the folded edge, start folding/rolling the assembly up towards the halfway point. You are aiming to make a flat roll a bit more than 1/8" wide. When you get to the halfway point, fold it over once more. You should have a pretty thick roll of PTB attached to a single layer, the total width of which should be about the length of your cart. If it's a bit long the single-layer at the bottom of the cart will crumple up a bit so don't worry.
- Now you need to start rolling from the short side, again a flat roll as the cart opening is not circular. This is the tricky bit as rolling up the roll you made in the previous step will tax the shape-holding qualities of the material and it will be slipping all over the place. Don't worry about what the single-layer end is doing, just concentrate on keeping your little swiss roll together. If it starts slipping into a cone shape just push it back together and roll tighter. When you're done, you'll have something that looks a bit like a jellyfish.
- Hopefully you're still gripping the roll tightly. Now you have to feed the single-layer end into the cart and then push the plug in after it. You shouldn't have juice overflowing as there is not a lot of material in the bottom half of the cart, just enough to wick it up to the plug. If there are any parts of the plug standing proud from the others push them into place with a paperclip. You should also locate the outside end of the roll and enlarge the gap it makes with the cart edge slightly (again with the paperclip) as this will be your air vent ala the straw mod.
- Once you've done this you are done, just top it up and make sure your air vent is bubbling well.
- Happy vaping!
That's a lot of words, hopefully I've made myself clear. I'll probably make a video at some point. Anyone want to try it out?
I should note that I'm using Ecopure as
PG is horrible to my throat. Ecopure is quite a bit thinner than the
PG juices I've had so the large amount of plug material is necessary to stop your atomiser flooding. For
PG you might need to only use about 2/3s of the material and roll it less tightly/fluff it a bit more. I would suggest cutting after step 4 as the longer piece is easier to roll.
