The vacuum switch inside the battery actually uses a small diaphragm with a magnet attached to it. This magnet comes in proximity to an electrical device called a "Hall Effect Switch" that turns on the power.

Soooo... yeah, by putting a magnet on the outside of your battery/cartomizer and orienting it properly, you should be able to turn it on!

This trick only seems to work with batteries that are ULTRA sensitive... I have a kr8081d with auto long batteries and this trick does not work and does have the opposite effect, my batteries are stamped bloew the threads on the inside as having been made in 08-2009 so they are new batteries must be a better design because I can bang them against my fingers, blow on them hard, blare loud music and nothing sets them off except when you are actually using them to vape. This is a plus to me as no worries of burnt out atomizers or fires in your pocket!!!

WOW, it actually works. Has anyone determined whether or not it damages the battery, or drains it faster?

It won't damage your batteries but it will drain them. As for having the opposite effect that means it's different version battery. I forget what is what version but on one version putting the condom on the end will turn it on and on the other it won't. Be careful on how tight you tighten the two pieces together as well. I know we need them tight to increase the draw but if you have it too tight it will stay on when you are done sucking on the tip.

I loved the KR808D-1 and now I am bouncing off the walls waiting for my GreenCig to arrive which should be today since it wasn't here yesterday.

You are forcing the air in the condom over the switch just as if you were sucking it through. It won't stay on.
If you want the glow effect, you will have to put holes in the condom adjacent the holes in the ash tip.

Incorrect. The switch is a diaphragm switch that reacts to pressure, not flow.

Doesn't work for me. I can squeeze the end cap and it will come on for a split second, but doesn't come on just by placing the cap on. Kind of glad it doesn't by the way.
