I have about 7 atty's I should try this with. One or two has that nasty chemical taste as well... I'll have to buy some vodka![]()
Thanks for keeping up with the new ideas to try.
Caution: don't leave 801 attys soaking in alcohol for days on end... I had two of them come apart when trying to unscrew them from the battery connection.
Apparently these attys are glued together, and said glue does not keep it together after it goes on a several-day "drunk."
Hi Pete, yeah me either. 3 or 4 days into a new atty I would begin to notice performance drop off. Now they are good til they die.Originally Posted by surbitonPete

I wonder if people that don't do any cleaning just don't notice the slow degradation of performance? Kinda like the old frog in the boiling water story. Slowly turn up the heat and the frog doesn't realize until too late.
My two attys are still going strong after about 10 days of doing a daily 8 second burn.
Plus, I brought one of my attys back to life after I had killed it using the 510 and making the mistake of trying the hydrogen pyroxide tech.
I think the 5V burn really gets these attys cleaned up well.
A quick update on this daily burn tech:
I've now almost gotten 5 weeks out of one 510 atty with a daily 8 second burn. I do think my 5V Prodigy has a lot to do with keeping the atty working this long.
Not bad though and I'm definitely sold on this tech.
45 days pete?
That's almost 4x as long. Keep us updated on your new atty. Is your new atty from the same website?
both of you have made good points and its good to see a decent debate in this thread. without both sides of the story a person wouldnt be getting the full picture. i think it helps the thread alot and reminds people that everything posted is a persons personal experience and that all advice comes "as-is". every atty is different even if from the same model and manufacturer therefore will react differently. I HAVE tried the dry burn on an automatic 401 and while i cant say itwas better or worse method... it didnt hurt it from what i can tell. 401 attys are a dime a dozen anyway.
PS. to dry burn an auto just blow on the led end of the battery till u see it activate![]()
yeah the alcohol dissolves the glue. the best way to get the .... taste out of an atty (only if you are dripping) is to remove the bridge and the nasty wick. try not to touch the filament.
My original two Joye 510 atomizers get a dry burn every 3-4 days, and they're now over 8 months old and still working like new.
