Honestly flooding doesn't concern me with the 510, since I only use manual batteries and they are sealed. I've actually had less floods since I switched to dripping the other day, since an overfilled cart can flood just as easily as too many drops.
This one is not having any burnt taste issues, it goes away after just a few puffs.

I have only had my 510 model for a few days and it started to really deteriorate in performance. I went and got some of that polident since that seemed like the smarter solution to try at this point rather than try something that could fry my atomizer. I cleaned as directed and I am still not seeing any increase in performance as of yet. Just to see what you meant by a dry burn I attempted one and my atomizer remained unchanged in color. I am wondering what's up with that, it still works just not that great. I think also the fact that I gave up tobacco smokes completely and have been using the 2 Dragons, and the one 510 like they are going out of style might have a little to do with it along with perhaps dripping and overfilling the cart way too much. I plan on getting another atomizer for the 510 just to be on the safe side and I know I need replacements anyway. I just find it odd that my 510 doesn't get the cherry hot glow that I expected yet it does work just not that great. This is after the cleaning with the polident too, not just prior to cleaning.

What model atty are you using??

:-)
I was just going to post this idea
The manuals are made for this kinda stuff. That's all the 901 does on it's cleaning cycle anyway, now that I have a manual I can dry burn it anytime I want. He's probably right not to do it too long. The juice acts as lubricant and the joints might snap if you do two full cycles of dry burning.
Guy with the polar bears. I've noticed your posts over the months. Your the perfect test subject! You never EVER last for more than two weeks, you didn't even have to tell me. Let us know when she goes cold, k?

I received my 5V Prodigy and PT last week and have been doing the 8 second burn each night and it's working perfectly so far. It seems to restore the atty to perfect condition and I'm getting absolutely massive hits from both devices with using the drip method.
Oh, did I mention I've been analogue free for almost 72 hours! I can't believe it and without much discomfort at all.
I'll let you know how long these attys last using the nightly 8 second burn tech.

atty get's ever so hot even though you can't see any glow the result is usually a dead coil before you ever get to see any glow.
So an atty in this condition has had it?
I've tried cleaning 2 similarly affected atomizers with no success. As a last ditch effort, I'm doing dry burns which improves the vapor production slightly with each burn, but I imagine eventually I'll burn out a wire.
Edit-- measured resistance on both attys is 2.3 ohms, the same as the brand new one I just got.

In answer to the question, I am using the atomizer that came with it, nothing special. This is just a plain jane 510 no mods at all to it.

I too have a Prodigy and I started doing the daily dry burns after reading this thread 2 weeks ago. So far so good, my 2 new attys are still working like day one. I'll let everyone know how long they last.
I am not doing the dry burn for 8 seconds though, I am only doing it for 3 or 4 seconds.
