I'm still not having luck posting links. Search Vanillin MSDS, and I know this isn't everyone's favorite, but the FDA has a consumer foods site that you can search. It has some pretty strong suggestions on the subject.

IMO, it has not been found reasonably safe to inhale for extended periods or in the quantities we would use it in. We already know we are puffing stuff that is not well controlled in manufacture in many cases, may not be the potency claimed on the labels, and is not well documented.

I've tried to edit twice for links with no luck. It's like 11:30 and I gotta work in a couple hours. I'll try again tomorrow.

Coumarin containing artificial vanilla is being produced in other countries and is absolutely banned here because of the hazard. Just would like to know what they are using to flavor the stuff with before I inhale it.

Vape away on the vanilla if you like the stuff, I'm just saying it's not for me.

I'm pretty sure that I've narrowed down a "spaced-out-lightheadedness-slightly-stoned, but not in a good way" feeling that I've been getting occasionally to vanillin. It seems that I don't get that in recipes with real vanilla, but vanillin gives me the whirlies. At first I suspected caramel coloring, but narrowed it down further.
