Veteran vapors tips for newbies.

So I have a question about diy juice. I plan on buying the most potent juice I can get (currently 60mg from nhaler) & cutting it heavily with pg & vg rather than buying 0mg juice. This is purely an economic issue. I want to spend as little as possible on my juice. Where I get lost is the proportions of pg/vg to nic. I understand pg is pretty thick & too much can gunk up the atty, but I want the increased vapor & probably wouldn't want as much throat hit as I would get from using just PG. Anybody have a ratio or formula I could use for creating recipes?

At 70% PG / 30% VG you shouldn't have to thin your juice, especially if you use 15% or more flavoring in the mix. At 30% VG you should have good vapor production.

Make your own decision. Seriously - read through the forums. Perform searches on keywords you want to know more about. Ask questions if you can't find what you are looking for and someone will be glad to help you or point you to a link.

Read up on it, make your choice, buy a kit or basic equipment w/ any juie or carts you need for a good week or so - and use the heck out of it. Give everything a chance to break in before you worry too much about anything, ask more questinos if you need to, and just enjoy yourself.

Simple. Make your own choices based on your own research and habbits.

I recommend against this. At first, at least. After reading many threads around here, I "knew" that I'd need a pile of batteries, and another pile of atomizers, and a pile of ways to recharge my batteries so I got a USB charger and an AC charger. And since I didn't want to use up all my batteries I got a USB passthrough, too.

And then I found out that I didn't like my choice for an e-cig.

Dunno, thus far the first e-cig my wife and I bought - 801 - is still our favorite. We've been pretty unhappy with other models we've tried since. Haven't tried the 901 yet, but we're thinking that since they're pretty much just smaller versions of the 801, we'll get some as backups.

I have to agree with the post that states to do your own homework pick a starter kit and see if this is something that you are even going to want to pursue. It's also the rare soul that finds the perfect solution for his/her E-Cig needs on their first try.

While I am perfectly happy with the dragon that I bought for my first E-cig from Truesmoker.com I could still see that it wasn't the perfect solution for me. It's basically a M401 that has been what I would call branded, Truesmoker calls it re-engineered but I digress, it was a fine choice but I still ended up buying a 510 a few days after receiving the dragon and I am happy with that as well.

Why would I get a 510 after being perfectly happy with the M401 model you ask? A couple of reasons really, the first being that the atomizer took a dump on me and the dragon only came with one! I bought a couple spare ones but had to wait for those to arrive but that taught me a valuable lesson to keep spare parts around if I was going to stay with this and away from tobacco so a backup made perfect sense. With that thought in mind I then stumbled across a great deal on what I would call a bare bones starter kit for a 510 for $32 to my door, which is one complete 510, 5 carts and USB charger but no spare of anything like in most kits that cost $50-$60 with shipping. That was perfectly acceptable for a spare and/or to cheaply see if E-Cigs were going to work for me.

I did my research and had narrowed it down to these 2 styles since Blu was telling me that they would not even ship my stuff for 2-3 weeks they lost out on my business as they were the 3rd choice. I talked to people on here and another forum, I called the places that were selling them online and talked to the vendors when I could. If I could not get in touch with a vendor via phone then I crossed them off the list since I don't deal with people I can't talk with when stuff breaks. Email only goes so far in communicating when questions pop up during talking about these things as I am sure you all are aware. Bottom line is to use the brain you were born with and do the research. Nobody wants to spend money on garbage that isn't going to work, and this is very new technology to people which makes it twice as tough to find out what the heck is going on at times. Use your head, and ask the questions before you buy.

I know many people will recommend other kits like the 901, or the screwdriver, or the glv, and those are all fine I am sure, but for my needs those were not an option. I didn't want my E-Cig to look like a cigarette but I also didn't want it to stand out and look like a drug device or something. It also needed to be convenient, compact, long battery life, refillable by DIY, inexpensive and of course taste like a real cigarette. All things that people should take into mind when making a purchase. To the vendors that are bound to reply that they can't answer every call it should be noted that I called a minimum of 6 times before giving up on contacting them via phone. This new tech has too many questions for vendors not to take customer relations and service seriously, especially in light of the bad press the chicken littles of the world crying about them. That's how I feel anyway, the bottom line is to do your homework and you should be making a informed purchase if you put the effort into the homework. Hopefully this rambling post will help someone.

I'm thinking with the current legal issues, making our own may soon be the only option. How hard would this be if you couldn't buy anything made specifically for PVs? Would it be possible to use different heating elements like maybe light bulb filaments or coils or would we have to figure out how to construct our own atomizers??

Please reread the advise I gave. I am going to stop replying to this post because I have answered the same thing three times. The post says I recommend getting a 36mg fluid and a 0 mg fluid so that you can make your own level. And if you notice my response on the cart it emphasizes unattached.

I too would recommend not getting 36mg unless you know you'll need it!

Also I did read your post bout cutting which is a good idea, but what you are failing to realize is most people are trying to get away from there addiction thus I have purposely not got 36 because I know I would be trying it straight as I enjoy the nic buzz and 36 sure as heck would do that...

Best not to have that temptation around less you know you might need that high of dose...

efan makes an excellent point, I would imagine 99% of us started using E-Cigs as a method to get away from our addiction to tobacco cigarettes which when you boil it down to it's essence is nicotine addiction not tobacco addiction, or smoking addiction. Yes, there are some other triggers associated with smoking which is one of the things that makes it so doubly hard to quit, but the bottom line is that it's the nicotine that we are addicted to physically. It only makes sense to stay away from the higher nicotine levels as we are having such great success with staying away from tobacco cigarettes. The idea that anyone would NEED that high of a nicotine level when trying to get away from smoking is just ludicrous. I can't wait for the day I am buying or mixing my juice with next to nothing in nicotine content. That's when I will know that I have beaten the habit.

Cure the ADDICTION, don't just treat the CRAVINGS.
