The "ultracap mod" idea

I always thought that ultracaps had great potential for ecigs. I can envision a cigarette size box containing one (fat!)e-cig and batteries to recharge the ultra. Take it out, vape it, put it back in and it's recharged. I've no experience of ultras, we did some work about 15 years ago replacing backup batteries with super caps about 2f and that went well.
I wish you luck if you go down that route, lots of potential.

Today two 2.2F, 2.7V ultracaps would fit into the pen-type battery housing, and would cost 2 EURs, or so; just see the data sheet:
Vinatech
However, a little more development is still needed to fit higher capacities into that small space
How big was 2F capacitor 15 years ago?
I seem to remember they were a bit bigger than a AA battery, certainly they were huge compared to the mercury cells that they were replacing

People often miss the use of a lighter - and the 5 minute smoke. So put a cap in the e-cig and the battery becomes a 'lighter' which on momentary contact with the end of the cig charges the cap with enough power to vape for 5 mins. The 'lighter' could be fatter and with a bigger battery - and its own flame colored led.
